Cook county OP question

r/

Hello, my ex GF put an order of protection against me and I have trial scheduled on August 27th. We’ve had regular contact and intimate relationship now for a full week but the order is still technically active.

She assures me that everything is fine but I’m concerned that I could get a misdemeanor.

Location: Chicago IL

You should be concerned and you need to abide by the restraining order and stop contacting and having sex with her until and unless the order is lifted by the court.

If it’s illegal, don’t do it. You have to file an Motion to Vacate if you want to remove it.

This means stay the hell away from her.

This is not very smart on your part.

    >She assures me that everything is fine but I’m concerned that I could get a misdemeanor.

She can have you arrested at any time if you have violated the protective order.

You need to speak with legal services ASAP.

    >If there is a protective order entered against you:

    >The Illinois Department of Human Services offers information about Partner Abuse Intervention Services on its website.

    >Call the Illinois Domestic Violence Help Line at (877) 863-6338 for other referrals.

    >For legal Information and assistance, call CARPLS Cook County Legal Advice and Referrals Hotline, (312) 738-9200, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

    >The location, date, time and court room number are located at the bottom of the order. Please refer to that information to locate where and when you must appear in court.

And again, STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM HER UNTIL THE COURT SAYS IT IS OK.
