What’s your opinion on Adult magazines ?

r/

I’m 19 and still live with my mum so she has a safe search blocker on our WiFi so I can’t see porn on the internet or even Reddit , so I’ve been going to the shops lately to buy adult magazines like Mayfair and Club. Most people say it’s a dying thing but yesterday I saw two different guys similar to my age buy a magazine. So it got me thinking and I asked the counter lady do young people buy a lot of adult magazines and she replied with it’s always been a older gentleman thing but the last two weeks with the id porn drama in the uk where you need to verify to watch porn she has had to restock her top shelf magazine rack because younger guys are buying more. So to everyone do you think more people are going to start buy adult magazines again ?

There will be a rise in hedge porn again. It was a life saver when I was younger. Me and my pals found some very interesting things discarded in hedges and woodlands.

Collected a few of ’em for a while, enjoyed ’em for a while, spilled a lot of seed lookin’ at ’em, then threw ’em in the trash ’cause I didn’t want ’em in my house. Was too afraid that a visiting family member might find ’em in their special hidey spot. Also, I kind of outgrew ’em if you know what I mean. Didn’t want to become a chronic gooner. Didn’t want big porn addiction problem in my life. But regular gooning is good for prostate, no? Semen retention– have heard of it. Have heard of benefits but not sure.

Awe, so cute! She still sees you as a child and not an adult.

  13. Dirty_Dragons Avatar

Wow I can’t imagine having to buy porn magazines again. The last time was decades ago.

If that’s the only option then go for it. Also look for adult video places. I’m pretty sure the new Xbox and Playstation can still play DVDs. Or you can get a DVD drive for your pc.

  14. Tron_35 Avatar

Im not a fan, im too cheap, and video is better. I mean your in a shitty situation where your an adult but still live under her roof, id say just wait it out until you move out or figure something out.

  16. Canadian87Gamer Avatar

    Use your cell phone…

  17. Vic_GQ Avatar

Sounds like a practical solution under the circumstances. I mostly just burnt through a lot of mobile data (both for porn and basic functions like accessing any social media site or using the internet after 10pm) until I escaped my controlling family.

Don’t let anybody on here shame you for being in that situation. This behavior from parents absurd, and it’s not our fault that we were born into an economy where getting financially stable enough to get away from your parents takes longer than it should.

It may be your responsibility to deal with, but it’s not your fault. You’re just living with the hand you were dealt.

How do you not have a cell phone? Sure she can block the router all day but does she also have parental controls set up on your phone? Switch to cell signal.

Time to move out bro. Get some friends to become roommates and get to adulting. It’s time.

  23. Mairon12 Avatar

I have a collection of vintage playboys in one of my library wings. It’s a great conversation starter.

I haven’t seen the modern ones but I doubt they carry the same class.

  24. phillmybuttons Avatar

All of these move out posts are crazy tbh, there’s a lot of assumptions going on as well, but seriously, who would move out just for a wank?

They may be religious reason why the content is not allowed in the house, there could be porn/gambling addicts in the house? It may just be she doesn’t want porn accessible in the house but if she pays it then she can set the rules on using it I guess.

OP you have a couple of options which are easy tbh.

You can buy porn mags, that’s an easy one you’re already doing.

You can use your phone data, assuming your parental controls are off, if you pay for your own phone, either payg or contract then it’s easy to do.

You can get a SIM card router, easy to setup, uses a phone SIM card as data.

You can verify your ID with Reddit and access nsfw subs.

You can make up some excuse about school work/studying needing internet and the controls aren’t letting you access it.

Good luck and clean up after yourself 🙂

  25. funatical Avatar

I’m all for them, but I’m an older guy who grew up on strokebooks.

I think all things considered they are better for you than porn. Gotta use your imagination with those things.

Good luck my brother in wank.

  26. Special-Detail-4621 Avatar

Buying your own data is wayyyy cheaper than moving out.

  27. klystron88 Avatar

It’s been done since the 1950s. I’d rather have my kids look at magazines than going to porn websites.

  28. Nephilim6853 Avatar

Honestly, having had a pretty serious porn addiction, I’d say, you’re better off not buying the magazines. If you need that stimulation look for erotic stories instead. The stories produce visual images in your mind, this way your brain isn’t jam packed full of pictures of airbrushed and retouched women who are perfect. Helps keep your sanity.

  29. TheGreatPina Avatar

I’m sorry, but the only thought I have about porno magazines is word for word that scene from This Is The End. Particularly “Welcome to the 21st century, Buck Rogers!… Yet you’re jerking your dick like a goddamn pilgrim!”

  30. Drewelite Avatar

Buy your own phone without restrictions, use that or use the hotspot to install a VPN to your PC.

  31. dae_giovanni Avatar

wow, so does this mean that at some point soon, kids will again start finding stashes of weird porno mags out in that tree stump on the edge of the woods, again?

I have to say, the internet has ruined me– looking at static magazine images would feel like viewing a series of particularly-fancy cave drawings, at this point.

I’d try to find a way to view it through my phone. if nothing else, use phone as hotspot and then connect to net via VPN.

otherwise, you’re going to have to find a good stash spot for your new/ growing magazine collection. I’m sure mom would also hate that, as well.

  32. PretendStudent8354 Avatar

Youre 19. Open a bank account. Now get some money. Now buy an unlimited data cell phone plan.

You mom will have no control over that network – even if she wanted to. Its yours and yours only.

Thats basically what the entirety of the UK is doing. Because, like your mom, the government believes they can prevent consenting adults from viewing spicy content online.

  56. ChrisCopp Avatar

  58. UKnowDamnRight Avatar

As someone who recently got off porn completely, I think that stuff is generally bad for you, especially if you are using it instead of having sex when you are in a long-term relationship. Without porn in my life, my brain and imagination are working better now, as is my manhood, and my sex life has never been better.

  59. rulesAreMadeUp Avatar

not what you asked, but censorship and surveilance get my hackles up, so:

simplest answer to the router filter is just browse from a different access point, or on cellular data if you dont have a limited plan, assuming you live in a country that doesnt censor your entire internet. download whatever you want and put it in an encrypted “calculator app” to peruse later.

moving up to more involved solutions, a vpn on your phone will hide your traffic from the access point (router) and its ISP. unless the router is configured specifically to detect traffic to known vpn servers, it shouldnt tripp any filters. even if it does, the router wont see what you browsed, only that you went through a known middleman (the vpn) in order to hide something.
some vpns can be paid for in cryptocurrency which should help you hide the payment and its purpose if your electronic payment methods are also being watched. none of this will help you if your phone itself is bugged with stalker or parental control apps. (fyi, your phone is very bugged. all cell phones are, in order to customize adds for you. this doesnt necessarily mean the people in your household can access that data though, its behind a paywall so that it can be sold to advertisers.)

you might consider getting a burner phone, if you can successfully conceal it. 60 ish dollars at walmart (use cash) for a low end brand locked model. and walmart has free wifi. make a new email address ( one not tied to a phone number or any other email address tied to you )(that part can be a pain, do it before you install the vpn or some email services will insist you 2fa from a phone number in order to fight bots). the burner doesnt really need a vpn, just an app to encrypt (and preferably hide) incriminating content. dont bother getting a service plan, prepaid or otherwise. just use free wifi to browse and download. (have a story for the burner if its discovered. if your daily driver is apple, maybe get an android and say you wanted a cheap way to test if you like android better before committing to a more expensive model.)

hiding your traffic from governments and big corporations is more involved, but it sounds like your threat model only need account for the people in your household.

  60. Particular_Gear9180 Avatar

  63. lickmybrian Avatar

I think theyre healthier than the online version, because they are less realistic and dont give you the false sense of intimacy that video porn can give.

You see so many people talking about their unhealthy habits around OF or online porn sites so a magazine will provide a healthy distance between just a quick wank and the real thing.

  64. yeezy_boost350v2 Avatar

VPNs are a few bucks a month

  65. Scragglymonk Avatar

had them when a younger guy, not bothered for ages to be fair as it is still easy to find and not all sites bother with age verification 🙂

  66. green_meklar Avatar

The idea of paying for porn magazines seems kind of weird. I’m not a heavy porn viewer in the first place, but the Internet has so much of it for free.

    >she has a safe search blocker on our WiFi

First of all, for a 19-year-old that’s stupid and controlling and toxic. And besides, shouldn’t you be able to get around the blocker in about five minutes?

  67. titty-connoisseur Avatar

So just go to another place and download your porn directly to you laptop or memorystick and watch it at home.

Ignoring the subject matter, I see an overall shift back to physical media occurring in younger people. It’s finally becoming obvious that subscription based content is completely out of your control and if you truly want access to a video/music/picture/book/video game/etc. Having a physical copy is the only way. The current online stream everything model means you’re one government policy change or contract expiration from not having access to the things you want.
