Infant circumcision, terrible thing to force on a child and quite damaging. Religion will still do it but i think even America will stop doing it generally
I’ve done r/foreskin_restoration and got a foreskin back and got many of the benefits of a foreskin back
r/foregen is another wildcard where men could get bioengineered replacement foreskins, once an expensive medical solution gets heavily advertised in the U.S. as there is a large potential market it could change the perception
Prob how we let ppl work full-time jobs but still barely afford rent or healthcare. Future generations gonna look back like “y’all were wild for that.”
As an european we already think not allowing abortions and lethal injections are barbaric. Regarding the whole world i hope we see how our consumer lifestyle is barbaric especially looking at meat or clothing production, heck even chocolate is a brutal thing if you look deep enough at the roots
In 50 years synthetic meat will probably taste as good as or better than real meat and be easier to produce, so paying more money to eat a dead animal will probably become frowned upon.
I think there’s very little that can be easily predicted. Some things I’d like to see go away:
Factory farming and fast fashion: In the U.S. especially if we continue to keep wages low compared to cost of living, let housing and education costs rise dispropotionately to inflation, and hold the threat of ruinous medical debt over even the most well off people outside of the 1%, it’s going to be hard to get the majority of people secure enough to feel like they can spend what’s necessary to buy 1-meat that isn’t factory farmed and 2-clothes that don’t have exploitation up to and including slavery in the supply chain. I also think we won’t see the supply side make changes that make the cheap, exploitative products less available if we continue with immigration policies that make people afraid to assert their rights with employers, and keep employers feeling empowered to exploit people with unstable immigration statuses.
Public school funding based on local property taxes. To be honest I don’t know what it would take to break the cycle of perverse incentives that keeps U.S. schools segregated and hierarchized according to local housing prices.
Military recruiting in high schoools. High civilian casualty tolerance, especially in ‘targeted’ national security efforts outside of officially declared war. U.S. violence outside of officially declared war generally. The large for-profit weapons manufacturing industry in the U.S.
Prison labor that is either forced or has low enough pay to be effectively slavery.
I don’t know about 50 years, but one day I suspect we’ll look back at eating meat from formerly living, sentient animals as horrifically barbaric. It do be delicious though.
Surgery. Slicing people open, swapping out organs, and sewing them back together? It’s already barbaric, arguably, but we don’t have much other choice right now.
But I expect we’ll be able to grow new organs or build them in the next half century. Just tell a bunch of microscopic nano robots what to do, and they could construct new organs piece by piece. They could probably remove cancer cells, too. Eventually there will be no medical reason for cutting people open at all.
Hopefully , it’ll be conservatorship : not being allowed to do anything without permission from their legal guardians . Those who are under conservatorship basically have very few autonomy if any ; a civil death . Hope people in the future can change all that
The death penalty. National polling shows a gradual erosion of support but some states in the US are jumping through more and more hoops to conduct state-sponsored killings.

It’s slowly changing, but circumcision. We shouldn’t be doing it now, and hopefully it will be completely outlawed in the future
The widespread consumption of factory-farmed meat.
Specifically for the U.S., allowing kids who can’t pay for lunch at school to not eat
I’ll get downvoted to oblivion but keeping pets in cities.

IUD insertion with no proper pain relief

Karma farming
The way we treat children and animals. Just pathetic.
Billionaires. There’s no way that they need that amount of money, but further to that there’s no way they got that without exploiting someone else.
Miscarriage is nbd, just go back to work. Bonus points if it makes you a murder suspect.
Abortions. Regardless of your opinion in 2025 future technologies will change the entire ideas surrounding the process and procedure.

Working people who don’t get paid vacation, maternity leave, or sick time. Or, pensions.
Here’s hoping we get socialized medicine for all and that workers rise up to get what should be seen as basic and essential, very soon.
Billionaires not paying fair share of taxes

healthcare attached to employement.
Wiping your butt.
Abortion. 🙏🏼 🤞🏼
Bull fighting
Abortion
Insurance and a large majority of taxation although that’s only going to go up unfortunately
God willing, questioning any pregnant woman’s need for abortion during a related medical emergency.
Parental Rights – treating children as the parent’s property even when those parents are making decisions that are not in their best interest.
circumcision
Indoctrinating children with the religious belief that they will burn in hell if they don’t believe in jesus.
I don’t know about 50 years, but one day I suspect we’ll look back at eating meat from formerly living, sentient animals as horrifically barbaric. It do be delicious though.
Abortion
Psychiatry and the care of schizophrenics with forced treatment
Circumcision…
If I say it, I’ll get in trouble
Car accidents not be treated as a serious public health and underplaying its impact on local economies.
Starvation diets. Extremely thin beauty standards and just a general culture obsession with food/weight/appearance. I can hope
Killing animals for food
Anything that uses oil like those oil cars will be like riding a horse
Red shirting your 1st grader so they have a more illustrious HS baseball career.
Onlyfans.
All-encompassing religion.
Especially religions that order their flock to tithe, or are thinly-veiled political organizations, especially against abortion.
ETA: Those religious organizations are barbaric NOW.
Eating meat
Circumcision

Cutting up children’s genitals without medical necessity.
GLP1s.

Using screens as babysitters for kids and letting teens access social media.
I don’t know if it’s considered “widely accepted” today….but dear god, “transitioning” children!! Complete insanity
All this anti-trans stuff. It’s already how I feel about how we treated gay people when I was a kid
Blind vaccination of infants without assessing their need for it.
The death penalty. National polling shows a gradual erosion of support but some states in the US are jumping through more and more hoops to conduct state-sponsored killings.
Transitioning kids, abortions, docking puppies’ tales, declawing cats, neutering and spaying every single animal.
My sincere hope would be unfettered capitalism. There are definitely some fetters needed for society as a whole to function.
Transphobia
Littering and throwing away food
