I feel like 99% of people of a certain age group just have Spongebob hardwired into their brains like it’s part of a collective consciousness
“Oh no he’s hot!”
“Bring it around town…”
“You forgot the pickles!”
“How am I supposed to eat this pizza without my drink??”

It had good writing
I can’t speak for the later seasons, but I think the writers on the first few seasons came from shows like Rocko’s Modern Life, which has some very sharp writing (and probably more double entendres than any other kid’s show).
It hit that perfect mix of absurd humor, timing, and low-key existential dread, basically childhood memes before we knew what memes were.
Well, it’s an old and popular cartoon – it’s guaranteed everybody you know has watched it at some point, especially with the rise of memes, since it has so many good ones.
My favorite quotes were when Spongebob became a lifeguard “If I knew being a lifeguard meant guarding people’s lives, I’d never have taken the job”
And Patrick when Spongebob asks why he’s angry “I can’t see my forehead”
I think the real key is that they had the basic stupidity humor of things like Beavis and Butthead, or South Park, but kept it G-Rated so all ages can appreciate it, and it doesn’t get as tired as blue humor gets.
I can’t hear you it’s too dark
