Parents suck ass, been begging them for my SSN card for around the past 2 years, I’m turning a legal adult in a few months now. They brushed it off until we had to renew my passport for a months long trip, we renewed it and learned my number 3 days before we flew out of country. SSN Office told us their policy says it should arrive in the mail within 7-14 but added it was realistically 4-7 days, it would arrive whilst we’re across the globe. We come back home from our trip a month later, it’s not in the mail. A week or 2 passes, Dad finally calls our local SSN office directly and they confirm they don’t have it and it was not sent back to them in the case of a mailing issue. Parents are refusing to report it missing, saying they’ll “do it later” and I don’t meet the criteria to claim it myself as missing online, I’d have to drive there except I have no one to drive me. That thing of papers contains my full name, address, and government identity. It should’ve arrived in the mail 2 months ago, what the fuck do I do?
SSN card lost in mail, what should I do?

That sucks, and your parents should step up. You need to report the card lost ASAP to protect yourself. If they won’t help, try going to the Social Security office yourself with your ID to get a replacement. Also, consider placing a fraud alert to prevent identity theft while you sort it out. Reach out to someone you trust if you need help getting there.
