24 in NYC which US personal finance sub for deciding 24% credit card vs 401k beyond match vs starting a Roth IRA

r/

hey i need a specific us personal finance subreddit for this exact decision i am 24 in nyc making 72k w2 take home about 3900 a month rent 1650 with a roommate utilities 120 have 9800 on a credit card at 24 apr a 401k with 4 match currently putting 2 an hysa with 1200 and about 14k federal loans at roughly 5 apr the concrete question is should i do 4 to get the full match and then throw every extra dollar at the 24 apr card until zero before opening a roth ira or should i split it like 4 to 401k plus around 200 a month into a roth while still paying more than the minimum on the card looking for a sub with strict us focused guidance and a solid wiki checklist avalanche vs snowball and tax considerations thanks

Use the flowchart in personal finance it covers this type of sequencing question pretty much exactly

Consider prioritizing the credit card debt first. High interest trumps other investments now.

Always pay down high interest rated debt first
