If we talk about only doing the classic steak method without any marinade and special tricks like meat tenderizer powder , then I would agree that anything below medium well is better than well done . Well done steaks are absolute hockeypucks sometimes and most of the time just unecessarily chewy .
However , you can absolutely make a steak that is well done juicy and not chewy . Just because a steak is well done does not mean it can´t be a pleasant eating experience . Since it is not traditional you can go overboard with the flavor using stuff like MSG you can get a very tasty , juicy and tender alternative . I find it weird that even just linking ” Well Done ” to ” Juicy & Tender ” makes people upset , even though they have never tried anything that challenges their belief that ONLY Well done or ONLY Medium Rare is supreme .
Is such a non traditional steak better ? Idk , to me that is just preference . I understand where people are coming when they prefer a simpler tasting cut of meat . All I am saying is that it is absolutely possible to make a well done steak not suck ass .

My opinion is that if you’re going to use MSG or make a marinade then you may as well use a lower quality cut of meat which won’t have as much flavor packed in in the first place. That being said, I couldn’t give a shit what you do with your food, if you enjoy it that way then more power to ya
Real cooks/chefs can make a well done steak delicious. But most people making their own well done steak are just over cooking it on the stove. High heat pan for a good sear and then into the oven is the “proper” way to do a well done steak, yet that’s rare(ha!) to see done in the average persons kitchen. But side by side by Gordon Ramsey himself I’d rather have a medium rare steak over well done.

Super hot pan to get a good sear and finished in the oven I can get a ribeye pretty damn close to well and keep it juicy. Those saying they can’t don’t know how to cook.
