A bad experience with one thing is not an excuse to think that all of it is bad.

r/

Too much I see people go to one restaurant, have bad service, and say “ohhh that place is garbage” even though it’s one of thousands of locations at one point in time. Other examples: being with a bad partner and now you have trust issues, having a bad parent or teacher and finding authority bad, somebody misrepresents a religion and now you don’t like the religion.

You have to look and see if the base of what is there is the problem, or if it is just that one instance that caused a problem. This is instead of completely jumping to the other side because something irked you the wrong way, find the middle ground.

I agree 100%, another example is dogs/pets “I had a bad experience as a kid once” isn’t an excuse to say force your partner to get rid of their dog/pet (although if you’re already live together it should be discussed if one of you wants a dog)

you do realize the definition of insanity is doing the same things and expecting different results? if you had a bad experience, why would you ever try again? such a silly thing to ask.

I always go by the mentality of, “try things twice before you have judgment on it”.
Example: try the thing once and try it again in about a couple months to a year.
It really helps me to determine if I REALLY like something or if I hate it.

If I go to a restaurant and multiple things go wrong (bad service, food isn’t great, overpriced for what it is, etc), then I don’t think it’s farfetched to think of it as bad. “Bad” is subjective, not universal, and I’m under no obligation to return to a place and spend money if I think it sucks.
