A car ran over my feet, why wasn’t i seriously injured?

r/

Last year, I had an accident where a car’s wheel pushed my leg. I fell, and then it ran over my feet. At that moment, I could feel something really heavy on it. I was too stunned to speak. I thought I would never walk like a normal person again. I was too afraid to stand up, so I didn’t put any weight. After arriving at the hospital, my feet swelled and hurt a little. I took painkillers and had my foot plastered for two months.

Here is the prob doc wasn’t clear enough about the situation. He told me it was just a minor fracture. However I’m truly grateful that I’m ok now. But I’m confused. Is it possible to go through like that and not getting major injury. At that time I felt something really heavy but couldn’t see if it was actually under that car because of my position .

The pressure a tire can push with is equal to the air pressure inside – for cars this is usually 40 pounds per square inch or less – and the total force is the area of contact times the pressure. If only, for instance, six square inches of your foot (three inches wide and two inches long) are under the tire then it’s similar to a 240 pound person stepping on your foot with all their weight.
