A cat can run and hide under the bed when visitors come, but when humans do it it’s “rude” and “antisocial” how do you explain this?

I feel like it’s an unfair double standard do you agree?

I consider it rude and anti-social if a cat does that, no double standard there

Social dynamics vary from animal to animal including humans. Cats can run off when visitors come as that is normal for them but would it be socially acceptable and normal for people to lick (grrom) their loved ones as a show of affection/trust as cats do? Not really.

Recent studies have proven that humans are not, in fact, cats.

Felis are not a social species in the same way homos are.

A cat can look you in the eye while licking its own butthole.

With humans in general, this sort of thing is frowned upon in polite company.

Cats aren’t humans. They don’t behave or think like us. As such, they’re not held to human social standards. (because they’re incapable of meeting them!) It’s literally that simple.

I find it very difficult to get under the bed, the gap is just not large enough for me, my cat is also happy I can’t share his space

  11. Calgary_Calico Avatar

Cats are animals, they can’t reasonably be held to human standards where social graces are concerned. It’s a really silly and nonsensical comparison honestly, as someone who both has cats, social anxiety and gets exhausted by too much social interaction

Fully agree. When our cat would lay on her back and beg for belly rubs, it was adorable. But when I do it, all of a sudden I’m not allowed at Applebee’s anymore. Hypocrites.

do you shit in a litter box mate?

Maybe because they’re real cute they get a pass. You could argue this is true for humans. Most people think small children are cute, if they ran and hid it would be more socially acceptable than an ugly adult running and hiding.

I’m still gonna do it I don’t care if it’s rude. I hang out with my buddy Jerry. He’s the monster under my bead.

I’ve never even been called “rude” or “antisocial” for doing it, but then I haven’t been found yet.

Cat’s are a lot smaller than humans.

If your visitors were 50 ft tall, it would be acceptable.

I also cant bite them when I am done letting them pet me, nor swat them in the face when they put their face in mine.

I often ask this same question of my guests, as I take a massive dump into a box sitting on the floor in the middle of the kitchen.

  20. Rasty1973 Avatar

The cat is also rude and antisocial, but we all know cats are assholes.

  21. GrandMoffJerjerrod Avatar

Because people generally do not go to a house to visit a cat.

  22. otkabdl Avatar

Cats hiding under the bed don’t really care if visitors steal their shit? If I went to visit someone and they hid under the bed and refused to come out I would steal their snacks and video games. and tv. and phone.

A small human might try this and adults find the antic cute.

A friend of mine was chilling in the park with his dog. The dog was licking its self, as dogs are wont to do and some random dude that happened to be walking by said “Gee, I wish I could do that.” And my friend said “Well, you could give it a try but be careful, he bites.”
