You’re going to have to explain.

There’s nothing in a “traditional” storybook princess story that prevents the princess from having a grandmother.

If she had a Grandma, the Grandma would be the Queen, the Mom would be the Princess, and she would not, yet, be the Princess. The only way to become the Princess is for Grandma to die, and Mom to become the Queen.

(Yes, I know any daughter in the royal lineage can be called Princess. I’m referring to the first person people think of when they hear ‘Princess:’ Daughter of the current Queen.)

Because traditional storytelling killed their grandma, OK?!

The phrasing makes it sound like it’s dependent on the princess’ existence, not dependent on her title as ‘princess’

The British monarchs’ granddaughters are titled as princesses; I don’t understand why a fairy tale monarch couldn’t have a grandchild who is a princess…

Not at all. The king dies and passes his throne to his son (the new king) and then that king as a daughter (the princess), but the new kings mother is still alive (grandmother to princess)
