    Because the future is bleak.

    No fucking shit.

This doesn’t even include the back alley abortions women are having to get because of states banning them.

The future is bleak but the people are wise. Women are protecting their hypothetical children from poverty, abuse, and life under fascism. These are fucking amazing humans that are sacrificing their own wants, delaying or sacrificing their future happiness, their genetic liniage, their security in old age, by not having children in a country where they have no hope for a prosperous future.

Most folks are not in a stable enough position for kids

If the goal is to reduce the number of abortions better elect democrats. Same if you want to reduce teen pregnancy.

If the goal is removing control over women over their own bodies, then put republicans in office.

    It was never about abortion.

Want to ACTUALLY decrease abortion numbers?

    • Provide comprehensive sex education
    • Make it easier to access contraceptives
    • Guarantee paid maternity/paternity leave
    • Subsidize prenatal care
    • Improve child tax credits
    • Strengthen workplace protections for people who are pregnant or may become pregnant
    • Stop voting Republican

This is a horrible place to bring a child

But they’re making policies which make it easier to be parents, right? Right?

Abortions were way way way down from the 90s through the Obama presidency. Trump’s first presidency was the catalyst to abortion rates increasing again, and the Supreme Court overturning RvW seems to have only driven abortion rates higher.

So many people can afford to support themselves why would they attempt at supporting a child

I’m pretty young and single so am kinda naturally on the fence about if I want kids. However, I would definitely lean towards considering having kids more if I knew I could get AT LEAST 3-4 months paid maternity from work. Ain’t no way I’m popping out a kid and immediately going back to work. That’s bad for me, the baby, and my work. And yes, I would gladly pay more taxes to ensure paid parental leave for all parents in the US. We’re far behind other countries in this.

No animal wants to procreate in a hostile environment. Humans are animals after all. Parents should feel safe and supported having kids. And no, that’s not “free handouts.”

yeah, turns out plunging us into the dark ages doesn’t make people confident about bringing children into the world. who would have thought?
