Accidentally waved at the wrong person and it was painfully awkward.

r/

I was walking down the street, saw someone wave, and instinctively waved back. Turns out, they were waving at the person behind me. I just kept waving, and we locked eyes for a solid moment before I awkwardly dropped my hand and pretended to check my phone.

I really need to stop being so friendly.

lol.  this happens to everyone.  you’re taking it way too seriously.  try to see the humour in it and have a good laugh.

I have done this so many times! I don’t have the best eyesight so especially if I’m out for a run.

Don’t worry, the worst someone can say or think about you is you’re a nice person.

I do this all the time. Thankfully, in the south it’s not unheard of to randomly wave at people lol

This is a very wholesome accident. I’m sure it made them smile. You survived the embarrassment and lived to tell the tale!

Nah. Keep waving at people. It’ll make their day.

Who cares? You’ll never see that person again in your life and they probably forgot about you 2 mins later. I never understand why people worry about this sort of thing lol who cares

This is a normal part of the human experience. Do something else memorable and the embarrassment will quickly fade into a funny story.

I have done this at least multiple times before, it did feel awkward each time. Remember that the intentions behind the action are good and do not let it discourage you from greeting and waving at people you know. That act of kindness might even make someone’s day feel more good.
