I love Legos and Transformers. I have kept pretty well intact every lego set I’ve bought in the last 25 years.
I shared this joy with my kids which is why some of my Legos and all of my Transformers are gone.. its all fun and games until I go to get them their own sets/figures. Basic lego sets that were $15-20 are now 35-40. “Deluxe” sets that were 80-100 are now 180-200. And don’t even get me started on secondhand retailers selling old sets. I took my kid to a retro game store to maybe grab a PS2 and some old games. Some of them were $300+.
Took my kid to get a minecraft happy meal, and they were out of toys the day after release.
I know this isn’t a new problem, back in the day we had to shoo the middle aged men out of the toy store because they tracked shipping days and would come destroy our aisles looking for rare action figures.
But man, it really just sucks to see the light leave your kids eyes because some adult child just had to be greedy.

If they were scalpers, I would agree with you. But if they’re just normal collectors, then adults deserve to enjoy what they like too. Not every adult could afford toys when they were kids.
Legos were overpriced 40 years ago LOL
There’s a reason why many parents prefer Magna Tiles now
Legos are fun even for adults though. Lego has just realized they can up the prices since it’s no longer perceived as JUST children toys.
It’s consider a hobby all on its own now.
You shouldn’t blame adults who want to assemble Legos to have fun and relax after work. You should blame the companies that raise prices because all they care about is profit
Toys don’t have a maximum age limit
Dont even look at pokemon cards. While many adults are diving back into it for the wholesome nostalgia of collecting childhood favorites that are still being newly illustrated and printed, many scalper and shoehead types are trying it out as their latest hustle – buy out retail shops and try to resell for 2-3x – and it’s currently a huge mess leaving many without access to product.
