Airlines should get rid of reading lights

r/

They illuminate the entire space and someone shouldn’t be deprived the ability to rest in dimness because someone else is inconsiderate and doesn’t think twice about making the whole row glow. This is 2025. Get a Kindle, or if you don’t want to do that, get a little light pen that you can use without disturbing others.

What about meals on night flights? Install technology that allows people to turn them on during the eating period and then they go off.

Someone shouldn’t be deprived the ability to read because someone else is inconsiderate and didn’t bring a sleep mask.

    🙄 get eye covers

Also.. there are other reasons why someone may need to see other than reading.

This is an absurdly silly opinion. Upvote worthy.

Get an eye mask if you need to sleep. I have to sleep during the day, eye mask works wonderfully.

I agree with this that shit is annoying

You probably hate when someone reclines 2” also.

Place a plastic bag over your head and tie it off at the neck. The lights will dim for your nap… i promise.

Yes, let’s deprive others of the need to see what they’re doing because you want to sleep.

Or it maybe be easier and more considerate to get something to cover your eyes with, like a sleeping mask, or a jumper, or your fucking eyelids?

Unintended consequence of OP’s proposed rule is some rando bringing a 15k lumen mag light to read by.

I bring a sleep mask when I travel. I need absolute darkness when I sleep (except while travelling, go figure) so I keep one in my travel bag so those I’m with can read or whatever while I drift off to bed. Anything the airline provides, is fair game to use. You know what is on an airplane, plan accordingly.
