AITA for asking a pregnant woman to put her feet down?

r/

I (28M) was traveling by plane yesterday. My flight lasted about 1 hour. Right after the plane took off, I felt someone touching my neck behind me. I found it a bit annoying. I tought some children were playing and they were accidentaly touching my neck. It repeated a few times and I turned my back to see what was happening. There were two bare feet standing on my headrest. I first tought they belonged to a child but when I saw the painted toes, I understood they belonged to an adult woman.

I looked at the woman. She was in her late 20s. I asked her to put her bare feet down and stop invading my seat. She said she was sorry for that but she really needed to elevate her feet since she is pregnant. She was really pregnant from what I can see from her big belly. She also said her feet were hurting because she was wearing high heel sandals all day long. I told her I didn’t want her feet on my headrest otherwise I will complain to the cabin crew.

She then moved her feet from my headrest. During all the flight, I heard her complaining about how uncomfortable she feels to her family members. AITA for asking her to put her feet down?

NTA. That’s gross on her part. Bare feet on a plane? Nasty.

  4. Purple-Ad541 Avatar

NTA why do people take their shoes off on planes it’s so weird 😭

  5. Only_Target_9073 Avatar

NTA-being grossed out in this situation is completely normal and it’s not okay to hey pull a pregnant card and do goofy shit like that. What in the Nathan for you fuck is she thinking??

  6. Durchie87 Avatar

NTA. It is extremely gross to have someone’s dirty sweaty airport feet next to your face. So close that they are touching your neck. She chose to wear heels while pregnant. The flight is only one hour. She will survive.

NTA. Wedges to travel? While pregnant? Not a fair excuse. I feel bad for her, traveling late-term in a pregnancy (I can’t even imagine), but that doesn’t entitle her to put her feet right above your head. Loudly complaining because you stood up for yourself is especially unfair.

    Nta

She’s an idiot for wearing high heels on a plane in the first place, and while pregnant? She made stupid choices and then had to pay for them, tough cookies.

NTA but it can be an uncomfortable grey area especially given her response. You are not required to allow a pregnant stranger to rest her feet on your neck. Her ticket does not include those rights or requirements and neither does yours. Her expecting you to simply be okay with it because she’s pregnant is unrealistic, then for her to complain as if you’re at fault for her plight is…what it is. You weren’t rude, but some around might feel you were, sympathy factor and all. Also it’s an hour flight, as far as air travel is concerned that’s extremely short. I’m sure she can kick up her feet while everyone is waiting for their baggage to arrive on the carousel. 🙄

Why the fuck did she wear heels if it was gonna hurt her

  11. dedpla Avatar

Heck no NTA. That is really gross and rude of her.

  12. Gemini8098 Avatar

NTA, it’s an hour fight. She wasn’t traveling for like 12 hours, and even if she was, putting your bare feet on someone’s headrest is disgusting.

  13. Squirrels_Angel Avatar

Nta, I am pregnant and that does not give me a right to prop my feet on someone’s space let alone hit thier neck.

  14. OrdinaryMajestic4686 Avatar

NTA. Why wear uncomfortable shoes when traveling and then make it other people’s issue

  15. Onlymyownthoughts Avatar

It was rude of her to put her feet on your headrest.

  16. essiemessy Avatar

So someone held a knife to her throat and insisted she wear heels on a travel day? Ok.

She could have swapped seats with any family member she was whining to to annoy the person in front of those seats. Hell, they could have offered to swap themselves so she could piss of those passengers.

Give me a break. People are idiots and entitled fuckwits.

  17. Moist-Apartment9729 Avatar

It’s her own fault she was wearing heels for the trip. Some people are just plain stupid. Pregnant or not. NTA.

  18. StompyKitten Avatar

Nope. NTA. It’s a one hour flight and it’s her problem she chose to wear heels all day.

I’m impressed by her flexibility though. Especially with a bump in the way.

Do you want 9/11? Cause this how you get 9/11.

    NTA

she might not be the AH though

    maybe she’s just a fawktard

  21. frecklyginge Avatar

I’m stuck on anyone being able to reach their feet up to the head rest, let alone a heavily pregnant woman

  22. IHaveBoxerDogs Avatar

I flew while pregnant with twins, and my reaction is “huh?” You’re NTA

  23. Moose-Live Avatar

Yuck yuck yuck. That’s just gross. NTA.

  24. twosteppsatatime Avatar

She can keep her feet down for an hour. I would be so grossed out

  25. GusSwann Avatar

NTA. People really don’t know how to act when they leave the house. Being pregnant doesn’t give her the right to invade someone else’s space. If it was that bad, I’m sure the flight crew would have helped her.

  26. TeddyBear181 Avatar

    Pregnant woman here.

Nta – unless she was travelling for an emergency or work, it was her choice to travel on a plane, and her choice to wear those shoes.

She could have worn flats with compression socks, or stayed home and not invaded your space.

If she was travelling for a good reason (moving abroad to be closer to family, family emergency, etc) and had done everything necessary to ensure her comfort, then I would say gentle YTA, but it’s still your seat and you have the right to it.

  27. LalaLogical Avatar

NTA. If swelling was such an issue she should be wearing compression socks. Given her bare feet she obviously wasn’t.

  28. ilikehotdogs54 Avatar

NTA- she shouldn’t be traveling that late into her pregnancy

  29. Lemmeshoehornhere Avatar

Geez. NTA. Pregnant women get seats but feet rules still apply.

  30. Calm_Researcher9172 Avatar

    No, you are NTA whatsoever!
