AITA for asking my friend’s boyfriend for his number?

r/

Met my friend’s boyfriend for the first time recently. He asked me where I got some of my tattoos done from. I asked him for his number and texted him the details.

After he left, my friend said it was inappropriate of me to ask him for his number. She said I should have sent the details to her and she would have forwarded them to him.

    NTA.

Your friend is insecure and immature.

Are you in High School, or Something???

It’s not reasonable for her to control all of his interactions with other women, including her friends. You are allowed to have a friendship with him that doesn’t go through her, and this is a lot less than a friendship, so far.

I think she’s a little insecure. You were sending him info that he asked for. If you had asked unprompted it would be different, but it’s a natural step in a conversation and friendship

NTA. She’s too insecure. How long have you been friends?

NTA, he asked about your tattoos and you gave him the info directly, nothing shady about that. It makes zero sense to run it through your friend like some middle school note passing. If she’s insecure about a simple number exchange, that’s her issue not yours.

NTA. Although it’s society norm to say “oh I’ll send the details to x (your friend)” you’re still NTA in this scenario your friend is being immature

NTA – I always air on the side of caution with those kind of things though. That isn’t something I would do anymore, but it isn’t wrong. Are you by chance pretty attractive? I’ve had friends worry about introducing me to a significant other when we were younger for that reason, and told me the reason. It sounds like your friend is insecure, which isn’t your problem, but some women will always feel like that. I’d just be mindful of that in the future, especially if you’re really pretty. It’s not fair, but it’s life.

NTA. though I would say you could ask their s/o next time because some people can be kinda easy to get jealous or insecure I guess? But totally NTA. I feel like he should have told her as well but idk but I guess sending it to her and asking her to forward it is a good way to avoid these kinda mess in the future

NTA. Her insecurity is as loud as it is off putting.

When you’re dating, it’s inappropriate to talk to people without talking through your partner. That’s because people who are dating are constantly looking to cheat and cannot be trusted. Why isn’t this simple truth obvious to everyone.

That sarcastic passage was meant to illustrate that your friend’s position cuckoo-bananas, implies baseless distrust of you and their partner, and is just completely unworkable.

Isnt that a violation of the sister code?
A guy would never ask for his friends girlfriends number for some tattoo details… it violates the bro-code (If that is even a thing anymore)

NTA, but be careful. I became friends with my besties husband and although it’s been 100% platonic it’s ruined our friendship.

Your friend is insecure. You’re not going to change her mind, you’ll have to decide for yourself what you’re going to do about that,.if anything.

Side note. Your friend is probably cheating on their person…. Maybe not the highest quality individual

You had a good reason to ask for it and only texted him for that reason. There’s nothing sketchy about that.

But if you’ve sent him what he needed, and don’t need to follow up, it might not be a bad idea to delete his number to appease your friend.
