AITA for calling my obese little cousin fat for eating my pizza?

r/

I (17f) clopened (both 9 hour shifts) at work(opened today, closed last night) got like a 20 minute break in my car then closed at my second job today. While on my period. Halfway trough my shift this morning me and my bf get into a massive argument, and it’s super busy at work (only first job, second wasn’t too bad) and I haven’t eaten this entire time so I come home in a horrible mood, and I’m starving. I had planned to eat my leftovers, with my name, and the words “pretty please do not eat” written on a sticky note. We had some family staying over, my aunt and cousin (12f).

for context: my cousin is really fat.

I check the fridge and my entire half little ceasers pizza was gone. And I knew it had to be my cousin because when I turned the light on I saw the container it was in on the counter and only a kid would just leave it on the counter. I was so done I went on a little rant to myself while looking for something to eat, “how do you even eat that much fucking food, holy shit, fatass” I then saw that the chip bag was empty (not entirely her fault but she definetely contributed the most), and I slammed the counter and yelled fat fuck(it’s pretty late. so i wasn’t too noisy, but louder then before. Worst of all, I can’t even eat what my family was eating because they made HER favorite food, which has peanuts which I’m allergic too. I didn’t realize anyone else was awake, but my mom and aunt were, and overheard, and they told me I was heartless and insensitive and that I should be so thankful that my cousin wasn’t awake. My mom told me she was shocked I had the nerve and my aunt was offended and went on about how horrible I was and how she cou;dn’t believe what I said about her precious daughter. I told her that she shouldn’t have ate my fucking food.

The more I think about it though the more I feel like I was a little harsh eve though she didn’t hear

You’re mad about other things and the kid eating the food was just the thing that sent you over the edge. It happens, let it go.

  4. SuccotashThis9074 Avatar

    Nah, you’re fine.

  5. Dry_Pickle_Juice_T Avatar

The NTA you were venting to the universe. And she shouldn’t eat your food leaving you with nothing in the house

  6. dr_z0idberg_md Avatar

Lol I know I am in for a lot of downvotes from the ultra sensitive snowflakes, but NTA. Sometimes those little shits need to hear the truth.

  7. Impossible_Smile4113 Avatar

So, you’re not an AH for being upset or venting, but jeebus, man, that’s a twelve-year-old kid who you were slinging a whole lot of nasty at without verifying that you were alone and not insulting your family. And yelling it, were you trying to wake the household so you could wage a verbal attack? And then when you were called out on it, instead of explaining why you were upset, your food eaten while her favorite meal had been made with food you’re allergic too, you lashed out again. I get you’re a teenager working a long shift and hangry, but slow down there. How would you feel if you’d overheard your family members yelling things like that about you?

    ESH

Aunt should be more diligent about what her kid is eating. Not her food, no touchy. If your mom’s making food she knows you’re allergic too, she should also be diligent about ensuring your leftovers were left alone, and if not, a side meal was prepped since you’re still her underage kiddo. And you need to work on controlling your temper (this will not go over well when you’re older and have a partner or roommates) so that you’re not lashing out and yelling at a late hour over missing pizza.

YTA for the deliberately written for a reaction post, and for ever using the term ‘clopening’.

  9. Trevena_Ice Avatar

Honestly that was not your cousins fault but that of your mom and aunt. They should have said to the child to not eat your pizza and or informed you that there would be nothing to eat for you. This sounds like a shit situation for you. And I would say NTA. You did a rant. You didn’t called it to your cousin’s face. But after two jobs, nothing to eat and being mad already – I see where it came from.

  10. NoComplex555 Avatar

YTA. She’s a child, you’re a grown up who was unnecessarily cruel about her weight which is something outside of her control. You’re angry about something else and you overreacted. The fact that she didn’t hear you isn’t the point, that was luck.

  11. Pristine-Goal-92 Avatar

You said it to be derogatory, so yes, YTA.

  12. UnderstandingOld8202 Avatar

Yta. Being tired, hungry or hormonal are never reasons to hurt other people’s feelings.

  13. sana_moth Avatar

NTA for being upset about eating the pizza. It was your food and people should respect that.

For all the other things in this post… clearly YTA.

  14. MolokoPlus25 Avatar

YTA. There are so many kinder ways to address things, and you insulted not only the child but your aunt.

  15. LazyCity4922 Avatar

YTA for what you said and double YTA for needing people on Reddit to tell you

  16. D_Prime94 Avatar

Step mom or aunt? Which is it? Because you call her both in the story

  17. BelowXpectations Avatar

    YTA
That’s no way to talk to a person, especially a child – no matter how upset you are.

  18. Poinsettia917 Avatar

NTA The kid didn’t hear you. Your mom and your mooch of an aunt should have been looking out for you and the kid just shouldn’t have eaten it. A half a pizza? It IS why the kid is fat. Her mom should worry more about her kid’s health than anything you said.

Auntie’s a mooch and the kid is selfish.

  19. Girl_Power55 Avatar

Your stepmom AND your mom were there? Sounds bogus to me. Also, poor little Fatty couldn’t help herself, she wants ALL the food. lol

  20. isitpurple Avatar

I get being upset you’re entitled to be upset, so NTA for that, but yta for how you handled it. Your aunt is an arse too for allowing your cousin to become so unhealthy.

  21. zyr- Avatar

ESH, obviously a 12 year old should be able to see that note and understand they shouldn’t eat it, but your reaction was also too much

  22. Exodeus87 Avatar

NTA, it sucks to hear the cold hard truth but at 12, they should know better than to just eat food especially if it has a note on it!
Your Aunt should be doing better to stop their child from eating so much.
Yes it sucks for the kid being so fat, but that doesn’t excuse their shitty behaviour because that’s just how you end up with another fat food thief in the office.

  23. cbushin Avatar

I would say ESH. Her fatness had no relevance here.

  24. HisGirlFriday1983 Avatar

Yeah, you suck and you need to work on your emotional regulation. There are other ways to handle things. She should not have eaten your food but you immediately went to body shaming and insults. ESH

  25. LaMisiPR Avatar

NTA for being angry and venting- totally justified.

The body shaming is unnecessary. “Greedy” “selfish” “thoughtless” are all just as accurate without insulting a body that they cannot change in a moment, and is only partially their fault at that age. Yes, the kid is greedy and bad mannered and should be shamed for their behavior, but she’s really young to start shaming for her appearance. Most of your anger should be directed at the adults that have not been parenting/ supervising her well and enabling her greedy behavior.

  26. RoastBeefIsGood Avatar

YTA and you know it. Tell yourself whatever to justify it, but you did just take out your issue on a kid as opposed to the grown as adults who knew it was your pizza that allowed your cousin to eat it.

  27. Dry_Ant_3129 Avatar

    NTA

Don’t touch my food. Cousin read the note and still ate it. They deserve to be called out.

P.s: what do you you mean she didn’t hear??? She should hear it, if her parents don’t hold her accountable, I sure as hell would. I’d go yell at her to never touch my food again.

I lived with someone like that. She’s not just fat, she’s obese and food will disappear all the time while id come home after work starving. I know exactly how you feel. I don’t care she’s 12. Not everyone is gonna hold her hand and deal with her shit.

  28. Icy-Object-479 Avatar

NTA! Your food is yours and you are allowed to react if it’s not there! That’s housemates 101!

  29. AcademicLobster9977 Avatar

Hmmm. Would your cousin have eaten the pizza that was in the fridge without permission/direction from an adult? Maybe someone else is to blame for giving it to her/letting her eat it?

As for calling people fat, only fatty fat hat heifers get precious about that and they need tellling. NTA

  30. PlsrVctim Avatar

Rage bait .. Don’t respond to this. If this was a real person, it would’ve be a mega asshole situation. To even bring in the fact that they were on there. Tells me that it’s just stupid ass bullshit. don’t respond.

  31. Jocelyn-1973 Avatar

YTA. The fact that cousin is fat has nothing to do with the situation. Thin cousins can also just as well steal your food that you clearly labeled not to touch. Your aunt should have replaced your pizza straight away (she is responsible for the 12 year old and probably even told her it was okay to take it), but there was no need to be so rude about it.

  32. Turbulent-Arm-8592 Avatar

You can be mad without being fat-phobic. YTA

  33. rainy_island_25 Avatar

YTA, dont punch below the belt, no matter what. Swear, rant about the food being stolen and eaten and having nothing to eat etc.
