Context- Ive known Ariel and Sebastian since high school, and we’ve all been pretty close friends for the time being. For the past two years, they’ve been open as a couple and we have all fooled around a bit, but not much.
About two months ago, Ariel looked through Sebastian‘s phone and found six months worth of photos taken of my ass while I was sleeping. Now, these are especially not flattering photos with them being taken in such a Menacing and creepy way. Some of them I can recall being passed out drunk in.
My heart shattered a little bit, somebody I trusted for a while now was preying on me while I slept.
Ariel and Sebastian broke up almost immediately, but they continued talking, which I didn’t hold against Ariel because I understood they had been together for a while and it was a hard split.
Flash forward a couple weeks and Ariel finds out that Sebastian is talking to one of their old friends. They still were talking but Sebastian ends up telling Ariel that he doesn’t want to continue talking because he wants to pursue the old friend. This upsets Ariel obviously, they called this old friend and another girl that was in their old friend group from like middle school. Now, I didn’t find out about this until the next day after the three way FaceTime call happened. on the FaceTime call, Ariel screenshared these videos and photos that were taken of me “to protect the old friends”. After telling me this, my heart shattered a little bit more. I wasnt aware that even more people were going to see those photos. I didn’t speak up too much about it in the moment which I know isn’t right of me, but I didn’t exactly realize in the moment how much more violated I felt again.
I wasn’t in the best mood and we got into an argument a few weeks after this whole occurrence happened. Some cuss words were thrown around from both parties, and I had mentioned that I felt like they were just as bad as he was for showing those photos. They said they’d delete them, which like why do you still have them? I ended up just leaving the argument on read at some point because they said some pretty harsh stuff that I would never expect them to say, and it just hurt my feelings.
I dropped their key off at their house while they were at work, we had had an argument about keys because I asked for mine and they said their ex-boyfriend had it, they ended up getting it back, but that was a hassle in itself. After that, I felt like I didn’t need to continue to be in charge of their house key when I had gotten mine back. They called me six times in a minute when they had gotten home, but I hadn’t seen this because I was at dinner with my phone, turned off and flipped upside down. I texted them the next morning saying that I dropped off their key and I’m sorry I missed their calls. Am I the asshole for being upset at them for showing my photos to protect their other friend?

You’re not the asshole, I’m just wondering why you’ve even tolerated them so far.
NTA. Very weird that she kept those pics. And there was zero reason to show them to anybody else – she could have just said that she saw the pics and showed them to you, and the other girl could check with you if she wanted confirmation.
