So last night (like 11:21 to be exact) two girls knocked on me and my roomates door, and they hid out of the way so we couldn’t see them through the peephole. So when my roomate answered they shoved past her and came in recording doing that TikTok trend about random peoples room tours. And it made me really uncomfortable because we were both in our pajamas and what if I had been changing? My side of the room was kinda messy because I havnt folded my laundry or washed my dishes yes and I had feminine products on my desk because I had taken them out of my bag before my class earlier. I tried keeping my face away from the camera but I was still super uncomfortable and so was my roommate. I would’ve kicked them out faster but I assumed my roommate knew them because she opened the door. She told me later that they were hiding and she didn’t know who they were. Is there anything I can do? I’m considering contacting the school police just because I want the video gone. The two girls said they had tried it on other people and that we were the “first to let them” ,like they didn’t barge in without asking anyway?? So yeah is there anything I can do about this??? And would I be wrong to report them?

OP has offered the following explanation for why they think they might be the asshole:
> 1. Going to the police about two girls barging into my room. 2. Maybe I am blowing this out of proportion

This is almost the exact same situation that was posted on Reddit about two months ago. Report them to your RA, and if the RA does not take action IN A TIMELY MANNER, then report them to campus police and the school’s administration.
Yes report, they broke into your home!
Can we stop asking “is it OK to report / call the police on people doing borderline criminal behavior?”
It’s not only the “NTA” thing to do, but the fact that you even feel the need to ask begs for a “YTA” verdict.
Absolutely NTA. I don’t know how things work where you are in terms of chain of reporting, but start the process and make sure you escalate it if things aren’t sorted quickly.
NTA. Report them.
Report them. They were trespassing and filming without permission. God help us all from idiots doing TikTok challenges. If you are able to, file charges.
NTA
Report them ASAP. There is no excuse for what they did and need to learn actions have consequences.
NTA. Just another example of idiots who don’t realize videos on TikTok are staged with their friends, not real strangers. Report them 100%, no one has the right to violate your privacy.
NTA
They certainly did break the law by entering without permission. Depending on what jurisdiction you are in they may have broken the laws regarding filming/recording without consent. If you don’t want that video getting out (it probably is already), then only by reporting this to the authorities do you have a chance of getting it deleted.
NTA please report them! I would however recommend starting with an RA or dorm/housing advisor if available because they’re the best first line of defense and probably have some warning and punitive policies. Campus police probably wouldn’t do much in my experience unless you wanted some kind of restraining order, which seems overkill here.
Also to be frank with you, there’s no way to ensure the video is completely gone. Even if campus police were to watch them delete it from every crevice of their phone and the cloud, they easily could have sent it to someone else beforehand, put it in a hard drive, etc. if they really cared. That being said, they really shouldn’t care that much because it doesn’t seem like that wild of a video so if they’re told not to post it by someone at the school then most people wouldn’t.
I swear I’ve read the tiktok, messy dorm room bargers post before but the OP reported them to the RA or housing director and a whole lot of mishagas happened. In the other post, they bargers were made to apologize.
Omg, no definately NTAH.
Barging into someone’s room uninvited and recording is way over the line. That’s trespassing into your private space.
Your feelings are valid, and reporting it is an appropriate move.
Find out what dorms they’re in and do the same to them.
NTA. They broke the law when they barged into your dorm and legally you would have been allowed to attack them. If you know who they are, contact your schools public safety (or whatever your school calls its security team) team and/or the cops and file a police report. The fact that they recorded it means you have evidence to back it up
Wow! I can’t believe this happened again. I was just the other week the exact same scenario occurred. What are the odds?
YTA for an obvious repost.
Absolutely report them. That’s a criminal offense
I’d have locked them in the apartment, demanded an answer, and called the police.
That’ll put a stop to that.
NTA. They barged in without permission and started recording.
OP has to be a bot, this exact story was already posted here.
You know, just because someone knocks, you don’t have to open the door, right? In fact, I wouldn’t open the door if you aren’t expecting someone
Report them. Also find how to get ahold of TikTok and get the video shut down if it appears
If they posted online that ship has sailed. Its out there. You can report it to your uni.
I don’t understand why people don’t want TikTok banned. This shit is all it’s good for
YTA for not calling the police right away when your home was invaded.
TikTok makes people act like idiots.
Tell your RA and contact campus security or police.
Do they live in the dorm too?
There are two assholes in your story, but neither you nor your roomie are among their number.
Oh My goodness I’m now wondering if this happens to someone I know it sounds hilarious but rude at the same time so yeah
NTA Now that you have reported them, you can turn your attention to your roommate, talk about opening doors to strangers and/or strange circumstances.
I could swear I saw this exact story posted a few days ago and not the op
They’re entitled pricks.
You’re not just not the asshole. You’re righteous AF.
NTA- Report them. What they did was illegal. No matter what they try and tell you, this is not a normal dorm life experience.
