I was at a car wash a while ago and there was this dumb girl in front of me who wasn’t in the correct lane.
As she was backing up and turning to readjust her SUV, she clipped a truck in the lane besides her as she did not check for the front end swing while reversing.
She then in her own words ‘panicked’ and hit the gas instead of the brake, backed into the barrier, damaging it and into my vehicle.
She litterally had her license for just days and while she did exchange information, she was acting very casual about it as though it was something completely normal and she was still qualified to drive and like it was just a small thing. Her car wasn’t very visible damaged but there was some to mine and the truck she clilped and the barrier.
I sent this dashcam footage to a driving school called “megadrivingschool” and they uploaded it to their youtube in a compilation 8 days ago.
It is in a compilation of many videos and you can hardly see her in it and she is not in the thumbnail. I told the driving school to keep it anonymous and neither of our names are in there and it just says submitted by anonymous.
Somehow she found it as a friend shared it with her and she called me angrily and called me a jerk and asked me to tell the driving school to take it down.
When I asked why and said it is not up to me anymore she started begging. But I cannot ask them to take down the whole video just for her. She claimed it is embarassing but like she was acting like it was fine and did not care that much when it happened because insurance will sort it.
AITA here? There’s tonnes of people who upload their dashcam vidoes and it is my right to share it. I thought I was being helpful as it is educational.

OP has offered the following explanation for why they think they might be the asshole:
> I sent a video from my dashcam of a girl who crashed into my car and another car to a driving school who put it on youtube. This might make me an AH since I did not ask her but tonnes of people post dashcam footage and this is my dashcam

YTA because you weren’t doing this to be educational in any way. You shared the clip to a car crash channel, whats the educational value anyone could gain from seeing her video? And you can clearly see her and the license plate.
She kept a level head after causing a car crash days after getting her license and you try and publicly shame her for it, then come to us asking if you’re an ass?
> I thought I was being helpful as it is educational.
No, you thought you’d be vindictive and cruel cause she’s just a dumb girl who didn’t react appropriately according to your standards. YTA.
What? Why is this the driving school’s fault? She obviously had to go to the actual DMV to pass her tests. This seems more like a personal vendetta, do you send dash cam footage on every bad driver you see?
YTA just because you seem vindictive and judgmental. You say she only had her license a few days. That’s when most people do stupid stuff. She had no expectation of privacy, this kind of stuff is posted all the time, so she really has not right to be all that mad. But, you’re being petty and petty is never a good look.
I watch that channel all the time! Whether or not you’re TA, I’m undecided.
It’s fantastic that you sent the footage to a driving school. She should cry and maybe, just maybe she’ll learn to pay attention. Will LE write a report or no because it’s private property they won’t? NTA
The question is are you a justified AH. I don’t have an answer to that. This happened in public and you did not lie or slander her. It’s no different than if you sent it to the news. You have no obligation to her.
YTA and l didn’t have to go past ‘this dumb girl’ to know that. She made a mistake, but you didn’t, you made a deliberate plan to shame her. Are you always this vindictive , or just with girls?
NTA. I saw that video. It looks like, in my opinion, she floored it just to “back up” to get in the correct lane and then doubled down on the gas. I understand she may be a new driver and all, but she definitely needed/needs more time with an instructor before I would allow her back on the road. Also, with CCTV everywhere and more people having dash cams and so on, the expectation of privacy anywhere in public is a moot point.
NTA. If she didn’t want her shitty driving on camera, she shouldn’t have been a shitty driver to begin with. People are getting worse and worse at driving. It’s about damn time we bring back shaming.
NTA. She had no expectation of privacy. I need to go look up the driving school now.
NTA. I saw that video, a fuckup that bad is inexcusable. If anyone is the asshole it’s the person who, despite being absolutely dog shit at it, decided to drive and damaged two vehicles and the Carwash’s property.
YTA. In no way is a clip video of crashes “educational” you wanted to shame her and you did. Congrats on being the ass.
Think I’m gonna go with YTA. Cause you say it was for “education purposes” but the disparaging language you’ve used tells me otherwise. Also that channel doesn’t seem like a legit driving “school”, more a channel that posts bad drivers.
Realistically we have no control over what gets recorded publicly – but it doesn’t make what you did right.
It’s not a driving school. YTA
YTA and I am LIVING for it! I’m so proud of you.
NTA. Video is your property to share. She has no expectation of privacy in public. She’s no different from any other “dumb driver” featured in the video. She made a stupid mistake now she gets to be laughed at by the rest of us.
Embarrassing things happen sweetheart, it’s part of life. Time to learn a lesson
My guess is she’s trying to hide the fact she crashed from daddy or something and is afraid he will see the video and recognize the car.
Video link OP?
Probably should have clipped the video once she stopped her car and before she got out.
YTA. You don’t upload video of others without their permission. This was just a lame attempt of you wanting your 15 minutes.
NTA, if you’re gonna be an idiot on the road, prepare to be publicly shamed for it.
Can anyone provide the link to this video? I’m curious.
YTA for sure, it wasn’t necessary to spread their misfortune. But if someone does something stupid in public they’ve got to own it.
YTA. she is also seen in the video & you shouldn’t be posting others without consent
NTA. I watch plenty of similar videos with motorcycles to help me learn what to do and look out for in various situations. Based on the video, what she did was incredibly negligent and she should not be allowed to operate a motor vehicle.
You are the victim here and it is your right to do as you please with the footage whether it was an accident or not. I agree that the video is humiliating for her – maybe don’t do humiliating things in public if you don’t want them posted??
YTA
YTA. Your whole post is nasty and judgmental towards her, then you try to claim that you just uploaded the video to be “helpful” and “educational.” Don’t bullshit us, and don’t take videos of other people and post them online without their permission. If you’d just been annoyed at the damage to your car and her poor driving, you wouldn’t be the AH. You wanted to shame her, and you wanna come on here and claim that you had some kind of noble motive. C’mon now.
Yta. You did it out of spite to teach some lesson I’m assuming. People react different to things like car accidents. Be humble. You are not without mistakes. If you wanted a reaction from her in the form of emotional distress you got your wish.
BTW she could possibly pursue legal action, just an FYI.
YTA. I hate those compilations. Half the cammers are at fault or instigating road rage (and cutting that part out), and the other half are either very bad accidents (emphasis on accidents) or even more road rage. They have no real educational value.
A photo of our vehicle ended up on one of those FB “Bad Drivers of [insert City here]” because my husband had pulled into a parking spot and parked a bit over a side curb so I could get into the store and relieve my bladder. Sure, he could have taken the time to straighten the wheels a bit, to avoid the curb, but in the grand scheme of things, no risk to property or life occured (the only risk was to me, who was suffering from a bad infection at the time, and to our own upholstery, should I not make it in time), and parking slightly over a curb does not a “bad driver” make. To clarify, the tire was up, on the curb, but only slightly against the side, not top, or over the curb itself, if that makes any sense. This curb did not lead to a walkway or another parking spot, either.
Did we learn anything? Yes. Some people will do anything, including taking photos of random peoples’ cars, for attention.
YTA
Those channels arent educational. They are just crash channels. You did it to spite her
You managed to make it more obvious YTA from your comment in the thread. You even showed her license plate? And it sounds like you showed it to shame her and get clout and not to “teach” anything. She wasn’t visibly upset enough for you?
I wish I had more YTA votes to give you.
This whole post is just a ruse to drive (no pun intended) traffic to your shitty YouTube channel, so YTA
YTA and you can absolutely do something about it, once you’ve uploaded a youtube video you do still have the option of editing it in youtube studio so that either a section is censored or removed. While she could be making the case for the channel to do that herself you can also. Their uploading it isnt about education its about entertainment through humiliation.
YTA. Explain to us how it would be educational for anyone to see that. Now explain to us how ANY of those stupid dashcam compilations can be described as educational. Explain to us how YOU find yourself being educated by watching them.
Answer: There is no value to those videos. They are clickbaity judgemental bullshit at best, and reality gore at worst. You are an effing idiot for getting off on watching them, because that’s what it’s all about, right? You got off on uploading your little video, thinking that loads of people would watch it and think you were so clever for catching it on film.
Get a life.
