Long post ahead!
This all started in March. I (24F) was at my limit living with my narcissistic mother and needed out fast. A coworker—who seemed cool at first—mentioned she had space in her family home. She was hesitant but desperate, and so was I.
We moved in together. I got out while my mom was abroad, packed up in 3 days, and left before she came home.
That’s when everything spiraled once again.
The house was loud—people working on the yard every week, dogs barking constantly, and worst of all, her boyfriend. He flooded my bathroom the first day, dumped vacuum dirt and dog hair in the shower, and blocked me in with his broken motorcycles. I couldn’t relax. Ever.
She vented to me a bunch of times about their toxic relationship. I could hear every instance of bickering and every disturbing comment he made to the dog. And yes, we still worked together. I started dissociating just being around her.
The lack of accountability for faulty amenities and communication with my coworker’s father, the Landlord was just strange to me.
The worst part? How my coworker’s boyfriend was allowed to talk to her, with me in the room hearing their every exchange and movement.
It was time to go, I told the landlord I was gone the day my lease was over, with 30 days proper notice. And her told my coworker before I could, so you can imagine how that went.
She and I don’t speak anymore. I saw a side of her I didn’t expect, especially how she enabled all this. I documented everything. I had to pay for an Airbnb to escape, laundromat fees because the washer was broken, and I just want my money for the days I wasn’t even there.
I told her this when she questioned me at work, and I respectfully told her there’s too much noise, lack of privacy, and a growing hostility towards people of color in the city we were residing in, that includes her boyfriend and one other roomate.
My coworker and I are one one side, while her boyfriend and the other roomate living upstairs are on the opposite end of that.
I have no idea how she and him make it work, they don’t talk about anything of real substance.
They’re taking it personal, and I know I shouldn’t have mixed work with personal stuff, but the housing market is hard, and I want to fight for my money, my property.
So…AITA for wanting to take my coworker’s boyfriend to court?

I’m confused – you first said you were going to take her father to court, at the end of the post you say her boyfriend. Which is it, and what do you think are your cause of action and damages?
I’m confused- what exactly are you taking him to court for?
Boyfriend or father? Never mind, none of this makes any sense whatsoever. You didn’t even explain what you are taking anyone to court for? Laundry fees and moving out early because of…..I’m not even sure why. Give AI better prompts next time.
What exactly are you suing for? And who exactly are you suing for it?
