So I get a call to pick up a car off the side of the road being I do towing and recovery. The call came in around 2 am and I gave a 60 minute eta. Well upon arrival, the owner of the car started talking about how he had been waiting for 6 hours for a truck and I simply stated that I had just got the call 38 ago. While I was under the hour eta I gave the dispatcher, he was clearly irritated from waiting so long. He become hostile while making statements towards me on how I need to just do my job so I decided to leave the car and I contacted dispatch to make them aware of the situation.
Was I wrong for leaving the car? Mind you the guy had to ride with me as well and he wasn’t a pleasant energy to be around.

OP has offered the following explanation for why they think they might be the asshole:
> I left the car and the guy on the scene due to his hostile behavior towards me even though I met the eta I gave roadside. He was clearly irritated that he had been waiting 6 hours before I arrived.

Not sure where you are but where I am most people providing a service reserve the right to withdraw that service should the customer become hostile.
NTA
I’d have put the car on the back then made him get in. You can ride in here bud cause ya rude. NTAH
NTA. You gave a reasonable ETA and he blew up before you even got there. No one should have to deal with that kind of hostility, especially at 2 am. leaving the car and calling dispatch was the smart move.
NTA did he really have to wait 6 hrs or was he just being a dick and over exaggerating his wait time. Either way, there’s was no need to be so unpleasant to you, you are just doing your job.
You’re the AH. If you worked for me, you wouldn’t have a job.
People need to understand that some people will let you disrespect them and some who won’t. Glad you stood on business. NTAH
No, you were not wrong for leaving. You made a judgment call based on your safety, professionalism, and the energy of the situation and frankly, it was the right one.
NTA. Neither you nor he know why it took six hours for someone to show up. But it’s not your fault. And, it’s no excuse for taking out his frustrations on you, the person who’s trying to help him. Maybe he’ll be more polite to the next guy who comes to tow his car.
NTA. Not paid enough to deal with hostile customers.
