Wolf wasn’t expecting an outbreak. He thought it was just a crashed ship and killing a bunch of Xenos + Predalien and that’s it. It’s not like he had to scour the country to find the escaped Xenos. They’re engineered so that he can track them by their DNA.
Turns out that the ship crashed in one of the worst possible areas (forest + population center close by).
By the time he realized the magnitude of what’s happening, he needed to go contain the situation then and now.
That’s also why he was so lightly armed and had to salvage + jury rig more equipment. If he realized how bad it was he’d go in with much more firepower.
Wolf was an Elite predator. He basically got precedence over other hunters to try and clean up the mess his clan created. Predaliens are an abomination to the Yautja and taboo to even consider a possibility. By not admitting that the predalien was present Wolf preserved the honor of his clan and gave himself a chance to fix their mistake. Had he failed the other clans would be notified of the xenomorph outbreak and the predalien allowing them to provide potentially an orbital strike solution or multiple hunters working together to preserve Earth’s purity. The drawback being Wolf and Scar’s clan getting absolutely humiliated and potentially exiled for having allowed a predalien to grow and develop.
Because Wolf was the who got the call. From his body language, we can deduce that he was well acquainted with one of the crew members of the crashed ship. The fact that he took that guy’s plasma caster, and only the one despite having time, suggests that this hunt/containment is extremely personal for him so he’s not going to call for backup.
Well, he got the job done, didn’t he?
