Almost died after having second baby then was put in mental ward at hospital. AMA

r/

had my second daughter almost two years ago. after having her i ended up in and out of the hospital for a month due to an underlying condition doctors couldn’t diagnose the whole time. I ended up being diagnosed with an Avm in my uterus which was causing major hemorrhaging and infections. I was septic twice, had traumatizing experiences while at the hospital and then to top it off once i finally was clear to go home they baker acted me into the psych ward.

What did you have going on that they felt indicated a psych ward stay? They don’t normally baker act someone acting normally. You have to be a danger to yourself or others.

How long were you in the psych ward? Did they help you there or traumatize you more?

My grandmother died from AVM with her last baby. I’m so glad you survived. And my cousin ended up in a psych ward for two weeks after her baby was a month old because she had postpartum psychosis. The rarest form of postpartum depression. She actually lost touch with reality and thought people in the TV were talking to her. Gratefully, after good psychiatric care and long-term medication management, she’s doing really well and is a terrific mom. But like you, she never had any more children.

You poor thing! I had a baby two years ago too. Do you want more kids? How old are you? Did you end up needing any blood transfusions? I needed 3 after my last birth. I was SEVERELY anemic. Despite having a normal delivery, my hemoglobin was 6 😵‍💫.

Have you heard of post intensive care syndrome?

Did they end up keeping you after seventy two hours. I haven’t read any other comments.
As of yet, was it helpful at all in any way to you? And did you feel that you needed that after some time? Hope you well today and home.
