Am I the only one suddenly being bombarded by videos about Biscoff and Dubai Chocolate?

r/

Are these this decade’s version of Nutella or something? Basically, non-existent brands on the US, but viral marketing is making them seem like they are ubiquitous.

    OP just discovered algorithms.

Biscoff has been around in the US for decades. Their cookies used to primarily be available as airplane snacks but they’ve been sold in supermarkets for quite some time.

  3. dopefiendeddie Avatar

I haven’t seen any videos, but everybody I know started eating Dubai chocolate a month or so ago.

  4. Danibear285 Avatar

    Bro just discovered the algorithm
    And don’t support dictatorships lol

  5. sto_brohammed Avatar

Biscoff has been in the US for a good while. I used to buy it at my rural Midwestern grocery store. Dubai chocolate isn’t a brand, it’s a type of chocolate bar full of pistachio and some other thing.

I don’t really see those though because I block the absolute hell out of ads and on YouTube, the only website I really watch videos on. I also immediately block channels and videos about shit that I don’t care about so my algorithm is relatively tight.

  6. RsonW Avatar

    The fucking Dubai chocolate, wtf.

The only social media I use is Reddit.

My store was push firmed 16 cases of Dubai chocolate.

My initial reaction was “why the shit is corporate forcing 16 cases of $15 chocolates on me? Why do they continually choose to fuck me over?”

I got a call a week after they arrived from a much higher volume store in my district saying that there is one more push order going out, this is my do it or lose it. That was last week. I had sold one case in a week.

    “Nah, I’m good.”

“You sure? I’ve sold all 64 of my cases already.”

“I’ve sold one case in a week. I’m good.”

    But nooooooo!

Apparently it’s some huge TikTok thing?

The rest of the fifteen cases sold in five days, motherfuck.

  7. Fear_Loathing1966 Avatar

I noticed Dubai chocolate in my feeds starting beginning of 2024, tasty, but overhyped. I’m thinking Biscoff got big 3/4,years ago? I remember Biscoff lasagna being huge back then.

  8. TrixieLurker Avatar

This online? Why do you not have an ad blocker of some kind?

  9. Nortonlane Avatar

    Poppinsanity has a Dubai popcorn.

  10. ALoungerAtTheClubs Avatar

I first had Biscoff on airplanes in the 1990s, and I don’t think they were a new brand then.

The Dubai chocolate thing is a more recent trend I believe. But I don’t use TikTok, so I’ve only noticed it locally.

  11. Strong_Landscape_333 Avatar

I don’t see many ads of anything anymore

  12. Wide_Breadfruit_2217 Avatar

I’m a foodie so had to buy a dubai bar. Pretty underwhelmed honestly. I predict this one will be gone pretty quick after curiosity wears off.

  13. TrillyMike Avatar

    Yeah, yo got hacked bro

  14. stroppo Avatar

    Yes, you are.

God I hate those horrid Biscoff “cookies.” I turn them down when offered to me on a plane.

  15. klimekam Avatar

Biscoff is not ubiquitous in the U.S.? Airlines would like a word.

  16. IanDOsmond Avatar

… Biscoff and Dubai Chocolate are non-existent in the US? What country is my supermarket in, then? Heck, my ice cream shop has them both as flavors and mix-ins.

  17. unsurewhatiteration Avatar

I’ve actually never seen an ad for this (though I’m sure I will after clicking on this post). However, that’s extra funny because I go to the Middle East all the time for work and have bought it there like 2 years ago. There’s no way my phone doesn’t know what countries I’ve been in. The algorithm is dumb dumb dumb.

  18. Argo505 Avatar

Nutella was definitely not non existent in the US.

  19. ehs06702 Avatar

Biscoff has had its own display in my local Smith’s bakery for a while now. But yeah, I have no idea wtf Dubai chocolate is. It sounds like it has more human rights violations than regular chocolate does.

  20. Icy_Consideration409 Avatar

Someone left a bar of Dubai Chocolate on Marx’s grave in London last week.

  21. iSc00t Avatar

The only thing I’ve seen about Dubai Chocolate is people complaining about it. 😭

  22. mickeyanonymousse Avatar

I’ve been eating biscoff cookies as far back as I can remember. I don’t always eat it because it’s unhealthy but I do have a jar of the cookie spread in my pantry right now. so it is ubiquitous to me…

  23. rawbface Avatar

I’ve received a Biscoff cookie on every Delta flight I’ve ever been on. For like that past 20 years.

  24. TammyInViolet Avatar

First it was birria, then biscoff, then dubai chocolate. lol. I think there will always be a thing. Like labubu’s are the new cabbage patch

  25. Katesouthwest Avatar

Dubai Chocolate is VERY trendy right now, apparently due to lots of advertising on tiktok and other platforms. The algorithm found you, especially if you were looking up chocolate or chocolate related items online.

  26. Sample-quantity Avatar

Both are available in my corner grocery store. They don’t seem rare where I live.

  27. Adnan7631 Avatar

My understanding is that Dubai Chocolate is an international social media fad that a bunch of companies are just jumping onto right now. But Biscoff is an actual brand that’s long been in America.

  28. B_A_Beder Avatar

I’m not sure what you mean by Nutella. It’s pretty common here and I eat Nutella or the Kroger knockoff all the time.

  29. Carrotcake1988 Avatar

Y’all about six months behind of those trends.

  30. animepuppyluvr Avatar

I use biscoff cookies in my baking sometimes. Works well as a crumb crust for my chocolate mousse pie with some crushed up biscoff sprinkled on top

  31. Saltpork545 Avatar

I’m getting YT ads for dubai chocolate. Definitely not interested.

  32. SnooPineapples280 Avatar

The Biscoff, no, as I had a bit of an obsession with those years ago, but yes, I have noticed a sudden big push on Dubai chocolate

  33. BrainFartTheFirst Avatar

Even Baskin-Robbins has gotten into the Dubai chocolate thing.

  34. MonkMajor5224 Avatar

I went to Dubai in 2019 and I just heard about Dubai Chocolate. And I did tourist stuff.

  35. qrysdonnell Avatar

I’m bombarded by videos about Coldplay and Ozzy Osborne. I wouldn’t mind Dubai chocolate instead.

Biscoff isn’t new, but Dubai chocolate is the latest candy trend. It’s not a singular brand, but a style of filled chocolate which originated in Dubai which has been replicated by many other brands.

  36. Forsythia77 Avatar

Okay but those Biscoff cookies slap. They make a nice cookie crust in desserts where you would use nilla wafers or graham crackers.

  37. ___daddy69___ Avatar

Biscoff is mostly served as a snack on airplanes (i know Delta does, and i believe American Airlines does as well), but i’ve recently started seeing them in actual stores which i’m very happy about because they’re amazing

  38. Ok_Orchid1004 Avatar

    Dubai chocolate is lame.

  39. clearly_not_an_alt Avatar

Biscoff isn’t new, as anyone who flies regularly will tell you. “Cookie Butter” made from Biscoff cookies made the rounds a few years back. I honestly haven’t seen anything about it recently, but I’m also old and don’t really pay attention to latest tik-tok trends.

Dubai chocolate is a more recent trend, but it already feels well past it’s peak. That said, I’m sure companies looking to jump on the trend are just now getting products to market, so there could be an increase as they try and get attention in a now more crowded market.

  40. minirunner Avatar

My husband bought me a Dubai chocolate bar last week because he knows I love pistachio. It was…fine? Not really worth hyping up though.

  41. tcspears Avatar

Only know Biscoff from flying every week, as they are a common airline snack in the US.

I’ve not really heard of Dubai Chocolate, and don’t see ads or videos for either… and I spend quite a bit a of time on social media.

  42. PerformanceDouble924 Avatar

Dubai Chocolate is, IMHO, just the UAEs marketing campaign to change people’s perceptions, because they got tired of the jokes and memes about the other kind of “Dubai chocolate” aka “the Dubai porta-potty” which is a whole other disturbing thing.

  43. SlimK1111 Avatar

Give me a Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate bar and I’m a happy woman, give me two and I’m in heaven….

  44. milkandsugar Avatar

I use adblocking everywhere, so no.
