AMA: I am a Syrian-American Christian from Damascus. Today is the 12th year anniversary, and the first one free from the dictator Assad, in which we regretfully mourn the victims of Ghouta’s chemical weapons attack.

I am a Syrian-American Christian ready to answer all your questions about Syria, past and present, objectively and to the best of my ability. For your reference, I have pasted a video in English from an initiative I follow that explains the situation and Syria’s challenges in about 2 minutes.

Hello! My parents are Lebanese Christians, I am Brazilian. Ive been out of touch with Lebanon for a long time now.

How could you describe what happened in the coast and in Suweida? It’s hard to get any sort of reliable information from here.

My family are Lebanese Christians. Do you see a future for Christians in Syria to live and work peacefully or are Christians going to continue leaving?

Hey, I appreciate your doing this. I have long taken an interest in Syria even before the war, which I followed with a heavy heart. I hope to visit one day, once things are more stable. If you can comfortably answer my questions they are as follows.

    (1) How do you view the situation of Israel invading and occupying southern Syria? What, if anything, can be done about it from the pov of the Syrian government?

    (2) What are your hopes/expectations for the future of Syria? Is there a particular country that you think serves as a model for Syria to emulate?

    (3) Besides Damascus and the more famous sites like Palmyra or Krak des Chevaliers, is there a special natural or cultural site that is your “favourite”, that you think belongs on a travellers itinerary?

Not a question but I remember hearing people say that the chemical attacks were fake.

    It’s insulting towards the victims.

Hi, I am happy to know that things got better in the last few months.

What do you want your country to achieve in the next 5-10 years?

Do you think it’s possible? Is the population mostly united to reach this favorable outcome?

What would you say is your country biggest hurdles at the moment?

What is your favorite newly allowed activity since the last regime fell?

Please don’t feel force to answer every of my many questions, I’m hopping for the best for you and the peoples of Syria!

Do you think the ethnic and religious minorities of Syria will be safe under the current government? I’m aware of the massacres against Alawites and most recently, the Druze, of whom at least a thousand have been murdered.

How do you feel about Al Jolani?

What is your opinion on the roles of Türkiye, Russia and Iran in Syria?

Is the situation getting any better or worse for Kurds in Syria? Are many still stateless?
