It is just a small inconvenience on the way to Make America Grate Again!!!

Why do you think walmart is at risk of going bankrupt?

They can simply pass on the cost of tariffs to consumers, and while it will undoubtably hurt sales there’s no particular reason to think it will drastically affect walmart over other retailers.

I hope they weather the storm as more manufacturing industries begin building in the United States again! That means more jobs for Americans. #DDX1187

Who came up with this tomfoolery?

  6. ThingLeading2013 Avatar

Yeah he really didn’t think that one through did he?!

    Honestly – ambivalent.

Wal-Mart has, for decades, been the single largest ‘welfare-queen’ in the entire country. They should have been forced to pay their workers a living wage – or else they should have been allowed to go out of business.

As much as I suspect Wal-Mart’s death will not be the only one under Trump’s insanity – it would be one I would miss the least.

But of course – that may not happen. Trump may simply grant them exemptions from the tariffs. In fact that may have been his plan all along – and the real reason for the tariffs. As long as the tariffs remain in place, every major corporation in the country will be forced to go to Trump, bend the knee to him, and pay bribes to him if they want to stay in business against their competitors who are getting tariff exemptions. The tariffs allow Trump to pick winners and losers in business. No business will be permitted to stay in business without Trump getting his cut.

This is how Putin operates – and Victor Orban from Hungary as well. It is standard operating procedure for Fascist regimes.

Don’t need 90% of the crap Walmart or anyone else sells anyway.

The only silver lining to this would be a return to local economies where people owned business and took pride in producing quality goods and services. But that would also probably take decades, if ever, and follow some type of complete collapse and economic rebirth

Walmart has screwed the American people for profits for years. They spit on it first so I will give them the same respect.

We are a long ways from Wal-Mart going bankrupt. If anything they are in much better position to weather this than smaller competitors.

  12. HorseFeathersFur Avatar

Lol this is funny. Walmart is not going to go bankrupt. And if they do, good riddance

  13. Naive_Insertable Avatar

It’s amazing how people go straight to bankrupt after negative news. Yall realize how long Walmart has been in business, yea?

  14. Jealous_Glove_9391 Avatar

If Walmart can go bankrupt, they deserve it

  15. yapyd Avatar

80% of its products are from China but that does not mean that 80% of its revenue comes from China products.

Here’s the cold hard truth about America: our land is infinitely more expensive in comparison to the cost of the goods that we are paid to sell domestically.

American soil seems  prohibitively expensive because American workers are paid ont he scale of child slaves in the third world.

  19. LadyZoe1 Avatar

They only pay more on stuff that still has to go through customs. The stock they hold was invoiced for when it was ordered. So they pay 90 days later? No change. But… if you as someone in the US gave a fixed price quote and you still must order and deliver on your old quotation…then Trump did a number on one of his own citizens.

Bankruptcy for big companies mean nothing. It’s just a way for them to clear their debt. If it’s important enough then that company will be subsidized by the federal government. If not then the consumers will simply go somewhere else.

  21. scarzncigarz Avatar

It’s the biggest employer in primarily red states. They asked for this, give it to em.

  22. TheTerribleInvestor Avatar

I see Trump giving walmart and his other billionaire buddies companies a tarrif pass before any of them go bankrupt. Help give it to only the biggest coprorations so any cheaper export will be profit for the billionaire class and effectively end direct to consumer and drop shipping.

  23. chotchss Avatar

Good. Stores like Walmart are a huge part of the problem in modern America because they drive local shops out of business, encourage mindless consumerism, and transfer profits out of communities to international investors. We need to get away from the big box stores and back to supporting smaller businesses in order to restore our communities.

  24. Yourenotgoingtodie Avatar

Walmart fucks up everything in every town they come to. we’d be better off without them

  25. Potato2266 Avatar

I highly doubt 80% of Walmart’s merchandise are from China. A decade ago, yes. Nowadays, Walmart seems well diversified.

  26. Jncocontrol Avatar

I have no sympathy to that company. If they go under, good.

And yes, I do have a chip on my shoulder, and yes it was because of Walmart

  27. Ragegasm Avatar

They could just hire 2 cashiers and it would be fine. But they won’t.

  28. Equal-Ruin400 Avatar

    Good. Eat the rich!

  29. Colanasou Avatar

Its going to be fine like it always is. Stop panicking

  30. mofa90277 Avatar

Walmart won’t be in trouble, but they shouldn’t exist. They’re a blight on society.

  31. zerostar83 Avatar

Walmart has advertised that they’re moving to “Made in USA” altogether for years now so maybe they’ll get a move on with it.

  32. jake8786 Avatar

That would be awesome, I despise wal mart and the Chinese junk they trick poor people into buying over and over again.

  33. xPepegaGamerx Avatar

Brother if walmart goes bankrupt in America then everyone other grocery store in the country will also be bankrupt

  34. GoodRighter Avatar

The aspects getting hurt are the parts using chinese slave labor. If they can’t keep operating without actual slavery, then they don’t deserve to stay in business.

  35. deadbeattim Avatar

Walmart is not going bankrupt. If you fancy the idea then you’re just giving into nonsense.

  36. panicswing Avatar

    Oh no, anyway..

  37. JackiePoon27 Avatar

LOL. Not counting long-term assets, Walmart has NINE BILLION DOLLARS in CASH. They can weather anything.

  38. whatchagonadot Avatar

    Is this a joke?

Wmt will survive them all, just spend a day in the parking lot there and you will know why.

  39. Pleasant_Scar9811 Avatar

OP forgot about the magic ability to charge more.

  40. Molson2871 Avatar

Look at their 10K, they’re not going bankrupt anytime soon.

  41. Btotherianx Avatar

Man, there sure are a lot of hugely misinformed self important people on this post lmao

  42. sweatycat Avatar

Walmart isn’t anywhere near going bankrupt.

  43. Far_Lifeguard_5027 Avatar

Walmart is the only retailer that treats paying customers like shoplifters on the way out of the store and takes out hidden life insurance policies on their employees. They deserve to go bankrupt.

  44. InternationalArm3149 Avatar

Walmart will never go bankrupt in my opinion. If anything more of their smaller competitors will go under giving them even more power.

  45. foul_ol_ron Avatar

It’s all a part of the short term pain /s

  46. Jey3349 Avatar

They were a front for Chinese products. This is what happens when you cater to the lowest price consumer.

  47. ipub Avatar

Tarrifs like this are going to hurt everyone, the shockwave will impact beyond the supply chain. For example. Walmart buys less onions. Price of onions goes up due to decreased demand. That impacts all other customer across Europe, prices start going up because onions are in everything. Id you scale that out to all affected products and supply chains, if left unchecked we are heading to another great depression.

  48. NotTooGoodBitch Avatar

What will people buy to put in their storage units?

  49. CaptainFartHole Avatar

Walmart going bankrupt is definitely not young to happen.
But if it ever did, I’d be pleased to see it go.  It’s a terrible company. It would be a problem to lose it in the small towns where it’s the only option,  but I’m sure Dollar General and mom and pop shops would rise up to fill the void.
