Anti Aging, the Men’s Skincare

r/

Men’s anti aging products are never really advertised much I’ve noticed. Everywhere I look its the same rhetoric of how men just use a 3 in one shampoo for literally everything. But I need something a little more sophisticated than that.

I have a little routine down already,

  1. cleanser
  2. retinol
  3. moisturiser

but I need something that targets the wrinkles I’m starting to develop (deepening smile lines and whatnot), but some formulas that are tailored for men’s skin. I’m trying to do self care right, help a bro out.

That’s because looking natural is better for both men and women imo. Don’t smoke and eat healthy and you’ll be fine

i got my routine from a random reddit post one time. all cerave products:

AM: shampoo/face cleaner- rinse, conditioner/gentle moisturizing face cleaner- keep on during rest of shower then rinse at the end. followed by Vitamin C serum and Retinol

PM: gentle moisturizing cleaner followed by PM retinol and PM moisturizer.

a nurse at the hospital said i looked young and was surprised to see my age @ 38

i haven’t found a solution for bagged eyes, though.

The only effective skin care is staying out of direct sunlight.
Everything else is just marketing to sell you oil.

I use Clinique for men. They have a pretty comprehensive line of anti aging products across cleansers, lotions and creams. They tend to have at department stores or you can order direct online. I’ve used these products for about 15 years and have been happy with.

    Don’t forget spf!

Retinol should only be used at night! When you wake up gentle wash, spf, and moisturizer and you’re good to go!

I use Kiehl’s Facial Fuel. It is a sunscreen & moisturizer for men. I use it in the mornings, right after I shave.

When does retinol come in when I’m using metronidazole cream for rosacea?

    1. Cleanser
    2. Metro
    3. Retinol
    4. Moisturizer

    Is the correct order?

I find that eating nuts is great for the skin and hair.

Beef tallow is good for keeping your skin fresh. I’ve been using it for a few months and my skin is really smooth and hydrated. You can get scented ones but if you get 100% grass fed tallow then you’ll get about 5x the amount for the price of scented ones. It’s the best moisturiser that I’ve ever had, it’s full of vitamins and it lasts for days on the skin. I used to moisturise everyday but it’s really every second or third day with this.

Watch your hairline if you start using retinoids, especially the stronger ones. You might react badly there.

Men usually do really well with niacinamide and clay masks too. The results from masks aren’t long lasting but if you use one before an event or a weekend date it can make a big difference. Totally worth it.

Not concerned about anti aging, no such thing like anti aging, you’re in a constant state of entropy with your cells dying and renewing. I’m just making sure to wash face, doing sauna few times a week, spf cream and that’s about it.

Have you thought about incorporating a good moisturizer with a bit of SPF? Sunscreen is honestly the best anti-aging product out there, and it prevents new wrinkles from forming. I swear by EltaMD’s UV Clear, it’s lightweight and non-greasy. Or any sunscreen if it isnt available in the market

The moisturizer you use should have SPF 15-30 in it for every day use.

So, I had the pleasure of having a wife who worked with a skin care clinic. This allowed me to learn a lot and receive a lot of treatments at no charge.

If people care, these are the things I learned

    1. A light sunscreen is very useful. You can’t undo the damage we’ve already received, but all our wrinkles come from the sun.

    2. Moisturizer does help, but it’s not going to fix major issues.

    3. Retinol is great at reducing the size of wrinkles and firming up your skin.

If you want to see serious transformation, you have to consider treatments. Botox makes a large difference and is relatively affordable (around 500 dollars for 3-6 months of effectiveness). It really helps soften your furrowed brow area and forehead wrinkles.

If you want your skin to glow and look years younger, you need treatments like Halo + BBL laser. This is anywhere from 800-1500 for a session. They basically use a laser that damages your skin deep below your face. This causes an immense reaction and turning over of fresh cells on your face. It takes about 5 years off of your face and your skin looks fantastic. Celebrities use laser treatments, one of the reasons their skin looks so fantastic. BBL laser can remove dark spots and discoloration, permanently. Halo laser can greatly reduce acne scarring and any other imperfections.

If I had a choice between dropping my entire face routine and getting botox + bbl/halo laser once a year, I would choose botox + bbl/halo, without question.

Because I have psoriasis, I have been putting “nivea creme” on my skin and face several times a day for nearly 25 years.

I’ve been using it all over my face, maybe 5 or so times a day, as it prevents the psoriasis for me.

Anyway… I’m 38 years old and barely have any wrinkles. I’ve noticed my mates looking like their face is aging but my skin is looking fresh and young. People think I’m early 30s most of the time. I also don’t drink alcohol. I also always apply sunscreen when it is sunny as I have skin that easily burns.

I know Botox sounds extreme but from what I understand, it’s gotten to the point where it’s sophisticated enough that they have treatments that make very subtle changes and just keep you where you’re at and have options aimed at men. I haven’t looked into in depth though

I’ve used Aveda products (not the men specific ones) for 30 years including their under eye wrinkle cream. People are consistently surprised if I reveal my age. Also, not smoking and drinking in real moderation, if at all, helps a lot as does staying hydrated.

All I’ve ever used is that Neutrogena face lotion with like 20 SPF or whatever in it. I have put that on every morning and people think I’m about 10 years younger than I am.

I’m not trying to advertise for Neutrogena, I’m just saying overall good healthy habits and a basic face moisturizer with sun screen in it, is all you really need.

  34. GlossyGecko Avatar

Never actively cared about skincare in my life, I’m 31, worked in the sun for a few years. My skin is fine, people still think I look like I’m in my early 20’s. Still get carded for alcohol and videogames. Strangers call me “bud” and “buddy.”

It’s genetic. Some people will age visually no matter what they do, some people will have a baby face forever no matter how much sun exposure they experience.

The skincare industry is just a snake oil money sink. Most people don’t even get outside enough to be slathering sunscreen every day. that’s a lot of money wasted.

Just wear sunscreen if the UV is particularly out of control and you plan to be outside. Most people who do care about it don’t even remember to re-apply every couple hours so kind of defeats the purpose anyway though.

Stop wasting your money on skincare, you’re probably doing more damage than helping your skin anyway.

Also drink some fucking water for the love of god, you dehydrated motherfuckers who are also binge drinking alcohol on the weekends are wrecking your skin worse than anybody who doesn’t care at all about skincare.

I also don’t want to hear it if you don’t work out at all, your body will be in its 80’s when we’re both 55. Already seeing it happen to my sedentary peers.

Anti-aging is mostly just sunscreen and sleep.
