Not sure if this has been posted before, but it’s something I find deeply annoying and a phenomenon I observe all the time. My argument is not about whether veganism is the correct moral/health stance, but that the way anti vegans (typically) approach the debate is annoying and frankly stupid.
Vegans are often spoken about in the same sense that SJWs were 10 years ago. Everyone has seen those videos of people screeching about meat being tantamount to cannibalism or saying that animal lives are worth more than human ones, but how many of us have encountered people like this in real life, and how often? On the other hand, any time I see veganism/vegetarianism mentioned online, and even irl on occasion, the comments are full of overused jokes like “guess I’ll throw another steak on the grill tonight so that some vegan’s abstinence is canceled out.” As well as horrible arguments which use logic that would be shit on if made in support of a less popular opinion.
In general it seems like anti-vegans have a way lower standard for argumentative quality than vegans do, yet they condescend as if veganism is like being a flat earther. Essentially, when vegans make bad arguments, they get shit on, but when anti-vegans make similarly bad arguments, they’re supported.
