Any men out there ever have a dog that ate their phone charger?

r/

Im (36m) dogsitting my brothers (39) dog (2f).To be clear, English is my first language. I dont mean that she chewed up my phone charger connector. I mean she ate my phone charger. I came home from work and was gonna let her outside to pee and I saw the last bitnof the chargwr in her mouth. The end was hanging out of her like a spaghetti noodle and she quickly slurped it up. She didn’t eat the block so thats good. Idk if this is one of those things in life you gotta go to the vet but I dont know who the dogs GP is. My brothers been looking forward to Disney land for months and I dont wanna disturb/ruin his trip and have to ask who the dogs primary care physician is.

Figured I would post here since im over 30 and my brothers 39 and thought maybe some guys here have been in my shoes.

If it helps for advice, the dogs race is like a datsun? I forget what theyre called. I know a datsun is a car but it sounds like that. Its a short in stature AND long bodied dog. Idk if anatomically that helps the cable pass. Thanks for the help.

Keep a close eye on the dog. Make sure he’s eating and drinking.
He may just pass the wire, but I’d call any local vet in the morning to ask their recommendation.

Don’t be too nervous about asking your brother for the dog’s regular vet. He can still have a good time at Disney knowing his dog is getting the best care from you. You wouldn’t want anything to go south and not have let him known.

If he’s short of breath or more lethargic than normal, go to an emergency vet.

These things happen. Just keep an eye on the dog and his behavior to be sure he’s not having a difficult time.

Then breathe a sigh of relief when you pick up a big dog turd with the charger in it. Good luck!

My dog has eaten plenty of things he’s not supposed to, but I ca. safely say he’s never ate a phone charger.

The dog will be fine, but somebody will be surprised to see a turd with a USB connector soon.

The pedant in me is screaming “The word is ‘Dachshund’! It’s a dog, not a car!” Thank the Germans for that one.

The wise ass in me wants to say “whichever end comes out first, just plug her in after walks to recharge.”

The serious person in me, however, will say, “You can’t just wait for this to pass. There are too many possibilities for the connectors to cause issues (I’m not certain that stomach acid and metal cable connectors are a good combo). She needs a vet visit.”

    vet. now.

not in an hour, not tomorrow. she could die. she likely WILL die. you don’t want to be the guy that let your brother’s dog die. take her now. stop reading this and go right now.

The dog is probably a dachshund.

And yeah, dogs will eat pretty much anything. You can probably afford to wait a day or so and see if she throws it up or poops it out, but if not she needs to go to the vet. You could try calling around to nearby vets but it’s probably easier to just text your brother and say “Hey, it’s not an emergency but your dog ate something and I want to take her to the vet to get checked out, can you tell me which vet she goes to.”

Call your brother and tell him about his dog.
