Anybody else getting darker, coarser body hair as they get older?

r/

Sorry for the TMI, I mainly want to know I’m not alone here.

I’m not far from a milestone birthday (40) and have noticed that the usual shaving the body hair I typically shave (legs and underarms) has been different for me the last weeks/months, namely that my hair looks darker and seems coarser. I have used the same shaving products for years now, but noticed more recently that I am having to make repeated strokes in the same area to get it all shaved down, even with a new razor, and my razors seem to be dulling much more quickly. My leg hair has always seemed thicker than the hair on my head, but it’s way more noticeable now. The hair on my head got darker and more oily in my 30s, but the texture and thickness didn’t change.

I have no known health issues (such as a thyroid problem) other than a hormone imbalance that I take low dose hormone therapy for.

This is normal. If it annoys you consider laser while it’s still dark hair (once it goes white/grey this is no longer an option).

Laser might not get rid of all the hair (some people are lucky) but it really can reduce the coarseness and density. I have a mix of lighter and darker (coarser) hair. The laser got rid of the dark coarse stuff and reduced my ingrown hairs tons.
