I certainly have a favorite mug. I like the way it looks and the way it feels in my hands. Having my coffee or tea in it just makes it better.
Some of it is the comfort of familiarity. Some of it is the aesthetics.
Back in the days when I had a lot of homeless or homeless adjacent teens, eating supper at my table, several of them had their favorite mugs to drink from. I think the routine of it helped them feel a little better.
No, but I have a very specific spoon for soup. It’s got just the right shape. It also has mystical healing properties. Essential for chicken noodle when I’m sick
Absolutely, I have a favorite mug I always use for tea. There’s just something about the familiarity and feel of it that makes the experience more cozy and comforting. It’s like a small personal ritual.
My favourite cup is a laboratory beaker. Maybe it’s the wider curve of the opening that most glasses don’t have that really tickles my brain, but it’s great.
I don’t know if it’s the same thing but I do have a mug for tea and a mug for coffee. Both mugs are twenty plus years old and have always had these identities. If you were to make me a cup of tea in the coffee mug then I’d be uncomfortable drinking it.

Sippy cups all the way.
When I drink IPA and play Skyrim, I have a specific glass I got from a Vermont brewery that I use.
I have preferred glassware, mug, plate and silverware. It’s not the end of the world if I can’t use it but I get this crummy feeling.

I have a cup that a friend of mine gave me. She passed away last year and I strictly drink tea from it. Not so much comfort, as it is a connection.
I prefer insulated glass so it doesn’t sweat

Yep. My friend has gifted me two cups, one is a Rich and Morty glass and the other is a small mug that just says “Nope.”.

I have two specific mugs that I will prioritise drinking from and cleaning. It won’t break me to not have them but they’re my favourites
