I’m a 31M in a long-distance relationship with my 28F partner. We’ve been together for almost 2 years, and living in different cities for the last 10 months due to work. We see each other every couple of months, but I’m trying to find new ways to keep things feeling close in between.
We already do the usual LDR stuff — daily calls, little gifts, handwritten notes — but I want to find small, creative surprises that don’t take a ton of planning or money. Something that feels thoughtful or fun without being over the top.
Ideally something interactive or playful. I was even thinking about sending her a small challenge or quiz for fun — nothing serious, just something that says “I’m thinking about you” in a more engaging way.
I’m curious what’s worked for others in long-distance setups. What are some unexpected or clever things you’ve done that actually landed well?
Thanks in advance — anything from silly to sweet is welcome.
TL;DR
31M in a 2-year LDR with 28F. Looking for low-effort, meaningful surprise ideas to stay connected between visits. Already doing the basics — calls, gifts — now looking for creative or playful gestures that don’t take tons of time or money.

There’s this app called Paired (there are similar apps too, not just this one) where you and your SO pair your accounts and then you each answer a daily question. You can’t see the other person’s answer until you’ve answered the question yourself, and then you can continue to discuss if you like.
There’s a premium mode that you can pay for that gives you access to other question cateorgies and a few other things, but honestly I thought the free version was great!
It was one of my favorite things to do in the morning!
Edit: Not a surprise, so not an exact answer to your question I’m realizing just now, so sorry but my recommendation still stands!
