"Sensitivity" means more than just "capable of being sexually stimulated".

You would be much more easily able to identify an object pressed against your lips than you would pressed against your clitoris, for example.

Your lips are (presumably) a lot bigger than your clitoris, meaning that those nerve endings are more spread out. They are still somewhat erogenous, so we like to kiss. But in the end, it’s all in the brain. Under erotic hypnosis, some people get to orgasm from being touched on the hand, the knee, or not at all. There are even people who develop the ability to experience sexual gratification from their ears or armpits, for instance those people who are paraplegic and have no sensations below the waist. The brain can reconnect the centre of pleasure to another part of the body.

If I had to guess, I’d say it’s because the size difference between the two. All the nerve endings in your clit are super tightly condensed into one little tiny spot. The lips may have more overall, but with them being significantly larger in size, the nerve endings probably still aren’t as concentrated or as dense as they are in the clit

  4. JoePW6964 Avatar

They are not connected directly to the brain. They have to go through the stomach on the way. Science!

  5. PossibleJazzlike2804 Avatar

Have you ever had a person you’re into run a finger across your lips?

  6. Lawlcopt0r Avatar

They’re not connected to the same brain/spine regions. Not all nerve endings do the same thing. Some are just for sensing pain, heat, or even the need to itch. If you somehow rewired your nervous system so your lips are registered as an erogenous zone it would probably be crazy

  7. flameodude Avatar

If i could orgasm trough my lips I’d be making out with food the first chance I get. Imagine me at a table just moaning like crazy and my saliva all over the place. A sight to be seen.

  8. ThePurpleSoul70 Avatar

Lips are hugely important for interfacing with the stuff we eat. You need to instantly know a MASSIVE amount of information about an object as soon as it even brushes past your lips. The same is not true about the clitoris, as it doesn’t serve any purpose other than sexual stimulation.

It’s the same with your hands/fingertips, and the reason why babies/toddlers put stuff in their mouths. They’re training their brains to interpret signals from those millions of nerve-endings.

  9. Phill_Cyberman Avatar

There’s a lot more to how our nerves operate than just the amount of nerve endings.

There’s different nerves for different things, and different combinations of those different types.

That’s the big flaw in a lot of the militant anti-circumcision crowd’s argument.

It’s absolutely true that cosmetic circumcision is utterly unnecessary and has no positive value, but it isn’t true that it ruins men’s sex lives because the foreskin has so many more nerve endings than the glans.

Me every time I bite my lip: 😩

  11. Fancy_Chips Avatar

Aren’t they? Whenever I get stressed out I always tap my mouth.

  12. Jetztinberlin Avatar

Nerve endings simply indicate the possibility for interaction between themselves and the central NS, for many purposes. Very surprised that in addition to eating, no one has mentioned speech yet.

You are just lumping together different definitions of sensitive. My lips are certainly more sensitive then my clitoris in general, if I had a grain of sand or a crumb between my lips I could tell the position precisely, the texture and perhaps be able to identify the object.

If I had something similar in my knickers rubbing against my clitoris, I would just feel irritation.

My clitoris is more sensitive to sexual stimulation then my lips, but that’s one very narrow and specific type of sensitivity. It’s also more sensitive to pain, again that’s just one aspect. Like eyes are more sensitive to pain then fingertips, but fuck figuring out exactly what and where something is in your eye that’s causing that pain.

Another point could be, that our lips are somewhat constantly exposed to movement and sensory-stimuli. For example while we eat, whistle, kiss, smile, feel the temerature or speak. If you focus on your lips while speaking you can register the lip-movement at all times. Therefore our brain regulates and filters the sensations, otherways your brain would be overloaded all the times.
Since the clitoris (or the glans) is less exposed to stimuli, there are also less signals (btw the movement signals of our genitals are filtered constantly too, otherways we would go crazy). And most of the time when we preceive information from our genitals, we do that pretty focused 😉
That may be another explanation for feeling less sensitive on our lips.

  15. jkxs2 Avatar

Let me tell you something. I was curious about lip fillers so I decided I’d try it out. Omg, WHY DOES NO ONE TALK ABOUT THE PAIN?! The numbing cream they apply did absolutely nothing. I was also handed a mini vibrating massager to place on my shoulder as if to somehow distract the pain and trust me when I say that I wanted to put that shiet on my clit instead.

  16. fucksticksjeeves Avatar

Cos I can’t be cumming everytime I lick my lips

  17. Solid_Third Avatar

There is the two pin test. Your lips can feel the gap between two pins held close together more than any other part of the body.

  18. Low_Cup9586 Avatar

Imagine you have erytime a orgasm while you eat for example an apple

  19. xtufaotufaox Avatar

    That’s easy. Because I don’t have a clitoris!

  20. tracklessCenobite Avatar

Could you learn to read Braille with your clit?

    Asking for a friend.

  21. melissarepissa123 Avatar

    You use your lips more

  22. TheRealBushwhack Avatar

    I don’t have a clitoris

  23. Dracoslade Avatar

The best way for lips to feel aroused is by putting them ON the clitoris

  24. dcontrerasm Avatar

Have you ever, even by mistake, grazed the skin of a kiwi with your lips? If you haven’t, go do it and tell me your lips aren’t as sensitive.

  25. rockstang Avatar

Different nerves innervate different parts of the brain. In turn, stimuli are interpreted differently.

  26. LaikaAzure Avatar

If I came every time I licked my lips I’d never have time or energy to do anything else.

  27. 8Ace8Ace Avatar
  28. Padamson96 Avatar

I thought it was to do with the fact that they’re always exposed to the elements, thus they’re always stimulated to a degree.

  29. CokeBottle21 Avatar

It might be due to keratinization – a layer to protect from the harshness of the environment. Our lips are first line compared to the clitoris.

  30. Gurkeprinsen Avatar

I don’t think nerves are all sending the same signals to the same parts of the brain. You don’t normally get sexually aroused if something touches your fingertips. Just like it would be difficult to interpret braille using your genitalia.

  31. Adventurous_Topic202 Avatar

I’ll get back to you when I find my clitoris

  32. buzz8588 Avatar

This means that my lips can identify a sugar cube from a lentil, but the clit can’t do that.

  33. Helens_Moaning_Hand Avatar

Now I wish my lips had as many nerve endings as a clitoris.

  34. often_drinker Avatar

    I don’t have a clitoris.

  35. 1241308650 Avatar

nerve endings maybe but the nerves in the clit extend into the body deeply (im sure im not using the right wording there) – like its a more deeply felt thing

  36. Dickie_Briganza Avatar

    You’re doing it wrong.

  37. sharkkboyyy Avatar

Try keeping your clitoris as open as your lips and see how the sensitivity goes away

  38. MsMoreCowbell828 Avatar

The "8,000 nerve endings in the clitoris" that we use as a standard for every clitoris; was arrived at by a single scientist who counted the nerve endings in a COW CLIT. That’s where we are ppl.

  39. sleepyannn Avatar

Because despite having more nerve endings, it is because the labia are designed to detect a variety of everyday stimuli, whereas the clitoris is highly specialised for sexual pleasure, with a greater concentration of nerve endings in a smaller area, making it more sensitive specifically to sexual stimulation.

  40. -Gavinz Avatar

    Sensitivity≠sexual stimulation

  41. rainbow11road Avatar

Same reason why our fingertips aren’t as sexually sensitive. Nerves don’t always equal arousal

eat something super spicy and tell me you arent in pain regretting everything

  46. kylezmum Avatar

Our lips are out always. Moving and pressing against each other. Fingers touch our lips, cups, straws, forks, spoons. But our clitoris is hidden away, tucked in nicely under a protective hood, hardly ever being touched. Sensitive

  47. nicksincere Avatar

My lips on a clitoris is the most nerve endings. Happy endings, too! For both of us!

  48. Roachiekinz Avatar

To keep us from chipping our teeth with a vibrator?

  49. cpsbstmf Avatar

mine does, then again my skins sensitive

  50. NurseMan79 Avatar

Using hypnosis, your brain can reinterpret the signals from any part of your body as pleasurable. You can absolutely orgasm from having your lips touched. It’s something I’ve gotten pretty deep into in the last few years.

  51. DangerMacAwesome Avatar

Can you train your lips to read braille?

  52. No_Reporter_4563 Avatar

That’s not how it works, clitoris purpose is an orgasm, and lips isnt a sexual organ. Its not just about nerve endings

  53. smith_716 Avatar

    Nerve endings =/= erogenous zone.

  54. SoylentJeremy Avatar

As a penis haver, I can confirm that my lips are WAY more sensitive than my clitoris.

  55. oghstsaudade Avatar

    Be fucking cause

  56. random97t4ip Avatar

I can just imagine someone having sexual stimulation from their lips because their nerve endings have been rewired or modified

  57. BytheLake1 Avatar

You have never had a pimple on your lip

  58. Gryzz Avatar

Nerve density is indicative of two point discrimination (being able to tell what you are touching); not necessarily sensitivity. Your lips are extremely good at feeling different textures.

Sensitivity is not really dependent on number of nerves. You can have one nerve that is more sensitive to touch than a thousand nerves. The clit (and glans) is super sensitive because the nerves are very close to the surface and those nerves don’t really get touched much so your brain is very tuned in to those signals when they do come through.

  59. embarrassedburner Avatar

Different nerves are tuned for sensitivity to different types of stimulation

  60. Lizrael48 Avatar

I can get twinges in my nether regions and get sexually stimulated when someone kisses me good!

  61. Alexomenos Avatar

Could the be concentration of the nerve endings? Like clitorises are pretty small compared to the surface area of the lips. So maybe higher concentration of nerve endings could result in more intense sensation of pain/ pleasure feeling.

  62. iluvcheerioss Avatar

thats why lip pimples/ black heads hurt so badly 😵

  63. lg_negomi90 Avatar

Try getting lip filler. You’d agree your lips are more sensitive as you wipe the tears from your eyes…

  64. The_Dead_Kennys Avatar

One is geared more towards accuracy and detail, the other is geared towards intensity of sensation.

To put it in DND terms: lips are finesse weapons, clits are strength.

  65. witchyravenclaw29 Avatar

The clitoris actually has more nerve endings than the lips about 8,000! It’s the most sensitive organ in the body. The lips are super sensitive too, but in terms of pure concentration, the clitoris wins!
