Are people actually joking about alcohol at work or is alcohol really that important to them?

At the hospital, a nurse will ask the doctor “Is there anything else I can get you” and the doctor will say “yes, a Margarita /beer sounds great right now.”

Obviously they’re joking, but why is alcohol such a common joke?

Regardless of role, it seems everyone in healthcare is always bringing up alcohol. Is it because it’s legal, because most popele do it, or all the above?
