Men of reddit! I work for a restaurant and my chef and I are trying to come up for a dessert special to run for Father’s Day weekend. I’ve come up with some ideas but I’d love to know your favorites. What’s your favorite dessert that you just can’t say no to?
We are between casual and fine dining. You can come eat with us after walking around downtown all day or have dinner before you go see a show or whatever else events are going on downtown. Below are just some ideas, I’d love to hear feedback or some of your own favorites.
What I have so far:
Bourbon chocolate tart with a smoked sea salt, garnish with either a caramel drizzle or shards of caramel
Chocolate covered bacon with a whiskey ganache dip
Grilled peaches with a fresh whip over some pound cake
Lemon pie bars
Banana pudding parfait
Caramel apple crisp
A cheesecake sampler plate (I have too many flavors to list)
Fudgy turtle pie
Whatcha got for me guys?

Bananas foster
Cannoli
any type of cheesecake
Crème brûlée
Especially if I can caramelize it with my own blowtorch
I love tejuino with lime icecream but thats a aquired taste
Banana pudding
Carrot Cake with cream cheese frosting.
Nix the first two. It sounds too much like “We made this manly dessert for MEN, because men like this stuff! It even comes with a tactical dessert fork, because you’re not some pussy!”
I love a good carrot cake, and will always go for a chocolate lava cake or tiramisu.
Don’t over think this, just make a classic and make it well. Most peoples’ favorite dessert is tied to a childhood memory.
I enjoy a nice moist chocolate cake with a frosting that isn’t too sweet and maybe coffee on the side
Chocolate chip cookie (cookie skillet). Smores. Anything vanilla. Chocolate mocha tort. Chocolate caramel “bark”. Candied bacon.
Cheesecake. Chocolate soufflé.
I have a thing for Pecan Pie. ONLY in moderation though, I will only eat it around Thanksgiving time once a year so I can truly appreciate it. It’s always felt like a dessert that I could get played out on quickly.
Caramel slice or something with rum in it.
apple pie with cinnamon and cloves
Pie
Cheesecake or passion fruit Eton mess 👍
Can’t go passed a really good pavlova
Banana crème pie. The best.
Yes, yes, and Tiramisu by a mile
Pecan pie, tiramisu, creme brulee, apple pie, and black forest cake are my favorites.
Sure, mostly.
Not really, no. Though I believe most do. I don’t ever really buy dessert myself, it’s more offered to me than me going and getting it. I don’t care for sweets, I don’t want to eat them really ever outside of very rare cravings. I get an urge to eat chocolate in some form once every other year or so, otherwise I only eat it out of laziness. If someone offers, or buys me something sweet as a kind gesture I’ll eat it wishing they had just gotten me lunch that day.
Cheesecake. The only dessert I indulge in is cheesecake. All kinds, but the less involved it is the better. I’d rather just have some plain New York style that was made well than adding any other flavor to mask its imperfections. Raspberry>chocolate>most kinds> strawberry. I usually will only eat half of a dessert or less, but I’ll eat those damned slices until I throw up.
Cannoli
I don’t eat a lot of sweets but I do really enjoy a cheesecake or occasionally German chocolate cake
tiramisu or creme brulee
Motown hot lava cake from chilis is really the only dessert I like. Everything else is meh
Yes.
Cheesecake, dry crust. Fruit and sauce optional, leave the chocolate in the cupboard, you don’t need it.
The grilled peaches one sound amazing, I was going to say Peach Cobbler or crisp. I would co-sign on all the cheesecake recommendations too, as well as Creme Brulee.
Banana Pudding, and Pineapple Upside down cake.
I used to be obese but my sweet tooth remained. I don’t have a favorite specific one, but ice cream in general is my weakness 😫
