Assault and battery with a deadly weapon advice

r/

So i’m coming here out of curiosity and worry.
Long story short my 15 year old brother got into a fight on the sidewalk with another 15-16 year old because the other kid hit my mom in her chest. The other kid ended up on top of my brother choking him out and my mom couldn’t get him off. (he was twice her size)
he then started scooting my brother towards the road like he was gonna get his head ran over and so my mom ran to the car and grabbed a Tball bat and warned him “get off of him, i have a bat” 2-3 times
and she swung once into his back.
not full strength.
he got up and ran off.
she ended up getting arrested for this and we bailed her out this morning.
looking for an attorney now
but i just want to know what the worst and best case scenario is in this situation

    Best case: charges dropped

Worst case: She is convicted and serves time/fines

A lawyer is the correct path forward.
