these answers are crazy. I would go as high as 50s and 60s, people think that by 40 you’re half in the grave when these days we’re living way longer in way higher numbers than we were ever meant to. 40 is halfway there. HALF.
I don’t feel old mentally. Physically yes. I love anime and this kid was wearing a Naruto T-shirt. I complimented the T-shirt and he wanted my adult opinion on certain anime tropes. That’s the first time I felt “old” even though everyone else starts losing their minds when they hit 30. I’m 32.
Some sources say 34 is the last young age. 35 is the age where you begin to transition away from youth. That doesn’t mean you’re old yet. It just means you’re no longer super young. So yeah, I’m gonna go with 35.
Depends on what the “young” person is doing and on who’s saying they’re young or not.
40 is generally considered young to die, but not young for having kids, for example. So it’s relative by situation
And it’s relative by the age of the describer as well, because to a 5 year old, 30 is super old. To an 80 year old, that same 30 year old is very young
A few yrs ago I fell playing hockey and instead of my teammates laughing they asked if I was ok. Same type of minor fall as I take fairly regularly, no reason to ask if I am ok. So I guess around 50 my teammates consider me old. (I’m now 52)
Now the official definition of young (at least where i live?) is under 45. I’m 41. My colleagues consider me young because of the age gaps that occurred due to economic situation. Do I feel young? I don’t want to be younger than I am. I’ve got achievements I’m not willing to exchange for extra years of life. I also don’t see a decrease in my quality of life due to age. So idk. I’m just my age.
I say 35 too, and I’m 10 years past that. I will say that even at 45, I still feel like I need to look for an adult in some situations and realize I AM the adult now so I need to figure it out.
probably 40-45. that’s about the halfway mark in most people’s lives. personally, i’d say 30, because that’s 1/3-1/2 of most people’s lives. You’re not young if you’re out of the first act anymore. But you’re not old until you hit the third act.
By that point, if you went to college you’re probably several years into a career and have some solid experience under your belt. You’ve been dealing adult responsibilities and likely been living apart from your family, probably on your own for several years.
Basically, by your late 20s you’re no longer entry level in life.
Everyone is ‘young’ when they are younger than you. But by the standards of society these days, I’d say around early to mid 30s is when you’re no longer considered young.
Also depends on how you look. Some people in their 40s or even 50s look like they could be 10 years younger and is treated as such. Some people in their 30s look older, it all really depends.
There’s that famous photo comparison right here in Reddit of Sean Connery with some other actor guy, both 34 at the time the photos were taken. James Bond looks like he’s 40 already, the other actor guy looks like he’s not even 20 yet. Both are going to be treated very differently, both will be considered ‘young’ differently by different people.
Weirdly, it also depends on what people know about you. If within your circle, people know you’re married with kids, you are considered ‘older’. But if you’re in your 50s, single and no kids, you will be treated as though you are ‘younger’ even if you’re the oldest person in the room.
It goes way beyond the visual, perception is what it’s all about. Sad but true.
There’s no objectively correct answer. The answer will differ depending on the age of the person you ask. But a good rule of thumb in regards to this question is; don’t ask people below 20 their opinion. They think anyone above 25 is a dinosaur.
Youth is a mindset. I’ve met 90 yo’s with a more youthful spirit than some 20 yo’s. I call myself old in relation to my friends in their 20’s, but I don’t feel old at all.
It’s health related, you can be an old 40 year old or a young 45 year old. Can you still run, jump, split, make love, and danc? If so… You’re young. I’m a young 49. I see young men in their 30 s broke down already. Take care of your mind and body fellas… Live to the fullest.
When I was 25, my answer was 50. Because that’s the year my parents turned 50. They seemed old. This year I will turn 50. I don’t view myself as old, but I don’t view myself as young either. Though I do consider myself young compared to my contemporaries, simply because I work out/eat healthy. And my genetics have left me with most of my hair, very little of it being grey.
Well I used to hear my grandma and grandpa say, “the kids are over” when their kids (60s), us grandkids (20s-40s), and their great grandkids (~11 and below) would come over for the holidays or to visit, so what age are you no longer considered young? Yes. That’s my answer, lol.
I don’t know why, but as a 29yr old turning 30 in september, I feel like past three years (27-29/30) this has been my 2nd puberty.
So much is happening in my body and mind – it’s insane.
Your are no longer considered young at the age when youngsters shy away from you, and female young adults call you a pedophile when you’re hitting on them.
In different cultures (times, countries) this age is different. It may be 25- or 45+.
Purely social matter. So i would treat this as stereotypes. Be young as long as you feel young.
It’s relative. I’m 35yo so to me under 30 is young. Under 25 are “kids”.
I’m biased though because with 3 kids I have more in common with those in their 40s than those the same age as me. For reference, my oldest is in KG and I’m the youngest Dad in her classroom (22 students) by 2 years.
When I was about 31/32, I remember saying “as a young adult-“ to which my older brother (35ish) interrupted me and goes “no no no. You’re what? 32? You’re not a young anything. Grown ass man” and that has stuck with me these past few years
The other day, I was talking to 3 of my coworkers about a case I have. All three of my coworkers are older than me. The youngest one is 10 yrs older than me, and the other two are in their 50’s-60’s. I told them that everyone on this case is old. All three look at me and ask me to clarify what old is and how old I am. I told them, with confidence, that I am 30 years old and they are all in their 80’s and nobody can hear each other, so they are all yelling. I began to think to myself and realize I really am not 30, I don’t even know how old I am. They asked me what year I was born in, and I replied 93, we all realize I’m 31, and a whole year of my life disappeared. That’s when I realized I’m actually no longer young, because I don’t know how old I am
I’m sixty. In some ways I still feel young, but most people on hearing my age would consider me old. I heartily disagree with them. I come from two bloodlines that regularly live into their mid-90s. I have a ways to go yet before I’m old.
My mother is 95, I’m 65 and she considers me young. My kids are in their mid 30s I consider them young. A 10 year old would consider everyone of else old.
As the adage goes, you’re as old as you feel (as long as you stay healthy). I’m in my 40s and feel younger than I did in my mid 20s. Less stress, better able to deal with life events, and much more laid back.

Late 20’s i’d say
People stopped saying “you’re still just a baby” when I turned thirty on the dot.
25
According to most 6 year olds, 12 and above.
35
I venture to say 40.
25
28, I say.
Who by? My grandad referred to the 70 year olds he played bowls with as ‘young lads’, because they’d been a couple of years below him in school.
Young is 0-29, middle is 30-59, old is 60 onwards. At least that’s my opinion being a 35yo.
26, you are already mature enough to start finding children and teenagers annoying and avoid them.
25
40 is middle aged if you live to 80.
The age goes up as mine goes up.
I see early 30s as young
Prolly like 35,20’s is still young
I’d say like 35. And I don’t mean once you’re older than that I think you’re old, I just wouldn’t consider you super young.
Honestly I’ve started getting to the point that the number keeps going up.
Young is relative.
these answers are crazy. I would go as high as 50s and 60s, people think that by 40 you’re half in the grave when these days we’re living way longer in way higher numbers than we were ever meant to. 40 is halfway there. HALF.
28-30. It’s the craziest transition
Even in your own head you start feeling old, body and metabolism changes significantly
I got a job when I was 10
In my household, once you are above 18, you are no longer young and that might be the case in some places too
When you have to stop and think about your age – wait, I’m XX old?!!?
Depends who you ask. I’m still called young by people ten years older than I am and I’ve been around since Nixon was President.
Depends on how well you take care of yourself in my opinion. Some 30 year olds have the body and mindset of a 50 year old.
Some sources say 34 is the last young age. 35 is the age where you begin to transition away from youth. That doesn’t mean you’re old yet. It just means you’re no longer super young. So yeah, I’m gonna go with 35.
After 30.
I’d say 40 but it depends in which culture you’re living in. For a Spaniard is 40 but for a German it’s 30. It depends.
15 is ok for me.
35 I would say, but it’s all relative anyway.
I work in a nursing home, and in that context, everyone under 70 is young
31, because the world’s median age is 30.9.
It depends. When I went to college parties at 25, I was considered old. When I’d visit relatives in nursing homes at 45, I was considered young.
When pro athlete start to seem like kids
You’ll always be considered young by anyone that has a decade or more on you.
30
If you ask a millennial then you’ll find it’s any age we are. lol
Eh. 29?
I remember feeling like I crossed the line when I turned 25.
27 homie. It’s the law.
40
My age, 68
My mom is 70. Any lady 55 or younger is a girl to her.
When you consciously accept your age.
My 80yr grandpa played golf most days and was sharp as a tack. He never accepted his age as fact.
Even when the cancer got him, he laughed about until the end.
Depends on what the “young” person is doing and on who’s saying they’re young or not.
40 is generally considered young to die, but not young for having kids, for example. So it’s relative by situation

Youth isn’t an age, it’s a mindset.
My Grandma still refers to me as a teenager. I’m 35.
Immediately i clocked 20, reality started setting in.
After 40
24+ is old
When everything hurts.
Depends how old you are
It depends. At 5, you’re too old to be breastfed, but at 50, you’re too young for senior citizen’s discounts.
I’d say 26
30
120
When you have a gastroenterologist, and Optometrist, a rheumatologist, and an orthopedic doctor in your phone contacts.
I’m 60, and I no longer consider myself young. Damned if I know when that happened.
29 is the last year of youth. 30+ is old to me. 60+ is ancient
Whatever age I was twenty years ago, goddammit that’s what young is. 🙂
When you lose your sense of humor for juvenile jokes that used to make you/the people around you laugh
Definitely 30
30 like me. No longer young. No longer wanted
A few yrs ago I fell playing hockey and instead of my teammates laughing they asked if I was ok. Same type of minor fall as I take fairly regularly, no reason to ask if I am ok. So I guess around 50 my teammates consider me old. (I’m now 52)
I felt not young at 30, but when pop culture started to become dominated by gen Z a couple years ago is when I really, REALLY felt not young.
Biologically, many researchers consider “young adulthood” to end around age 35. After that, certain aging markers start to show more noticeably.
Everything was great before 36
When you believe you’re old. Don’t do it.
Your not young when you old.
When you start acting like a selfish fool who only cares about money and refuses to leave their blighted kingdom (house).

In Simone De Beauvoir’s The Woman Destroyed, a character is described as a young woman of 50. Which I love.

“At 40 you’re an old young man. At 50 you’re a young old man.”
When you are older than most Olympic athletes.
Depends on context. Are you too young to be a widow at 35? Yes. Are you too young to have a full-time job? No.
We are all old to some people and young to others 😉🥰 And maybe thats ok.
0-17: Kid
18-34: Young adult
35-64: Middle aged
65+: Old
I’m 40. I’ve learned that everyone is young and knows basically nothing. Some of us youngsters are just more gray and wrinkly than others.
What is your definition of young?
If you are younger than me by just a day. Then I refer to you as a child. My right as an old fuck.
Youth is a mindset. I’ve met 90 yo’s with a more youthful spirit than some 20 yo’s. I call myself old in relation to my friends in their 20’s, but I don’t feel old at all.

30’s
35
As a mid-30s person,
0-25 young
26-50 middle
51+ old.
Let’s be real, the older I get the more I realize how short life is, I’m not going to candy coat it.
Well I used to hear my grandma and grandpa say, “the kids are over” when their kids (60s), us grandkids (20s-40s), and their great grandkids (~11 and below) would come over for the holidays or to visit, so what age are you no longer considered young? Yes. That’s my answer, lol.

Legally 18, realistically 26ish
I still remember the time when earth had no moon and I sometimes have to show my ID
21 (i’m 22)
10 years from whatever age I am or will ever be
100 (here in Japan 😉
I think for me was the first time I threw out my back by sleeping wrong at age 48.
I tell folks my mid 50’s is when I will allow myself to be considered old. Once my kids are out of high school.
35

I am 53 and honestly it really annoys me when someone calls me “young lady.” Like, my dude, are you serious? I don’t consider it a compliment.
I noticed younger women didn’t find me as irresistibly charming after 35, lol. Correlation is usually causation I think.
My cat died with I was 12 so12
I am 75 years old. I have to remind myself that I’m not “young” anymore.
40+ becomes middle aged-old
35 today. I’m a baby.
Depends on who you ask! 😆 I’m 52 and if you ask an 80 year old, I’m a young man. If you ask a 20 year old, I’m old AF!
Never. You’re young to somebody.
When I was about 31/32, I remember saying “as a young adult-“ to which my older brother (35ish) interrupted me and goes “no no no. You’re what? 32? You’re not a young anything. Grown ass man” and that has stuck with me these past few years
The Hobbits had it right, 33
someone tell me i’m young, I crave the validation rn (almost 27)
0 to 35 Young age
36 to 59 Middle age
60 elderly age onwards
25 is the first feeling of uh oh I can’t say I’m in my early twenties and the dread of the approaching 30s
30 is realizing oh shit it’s not that bad, plus you can say you’re in your “early thirties”
I imagine 40s to be kinda similar
So 50 I would think is “old” , you’re half a century old and have some graying/white
And old like “just old” not decrepit ancient mummy with green bones full of green dust
I think that’s 80s and up
My dad thinks 50 year olds are young
When people wouldn’t describe you as “only [age]” if you died
When you forget how old you are.
The other day, I was talking to 3 of my coworkers about a case I have. All three of my coworkers are older than me. The youngest one is 10 yrs older than me, and the other two are in their 50’s-60’s. When I hit 44-45 I started noticing I wasn’t the young one walking around Walmart. One time I think I might have been the oldest in the store!!
Now at 48 I know I am old and don’t care what anyone thinks.
25 or 30
Age is just a number baby!
I’m sixty. In some ways I still feel young, but most people on hearing my age would consider me old. I heartily disagree with them. I come from two bloodlines that regularly live into their mid-90s. I have a ways to go yet before I’m old.
When your peers begin having kids on purpose.
My mother is 95, I’m 65 and she considers me young. My kids are in their mid 30s I consider them young. A 10 year old would consider everyone of else old.
It’s a matter of perspective. To an 80 year old, 40 is still young, to a 17 year old 40 is a senior citizen.
According to my 23 year old coworker, 30 years is not young anymore.
We’ll see how she feels in 7 years
Old is when you start getting significant health issues.
I’d say 40s?
60
Many museums in Europe would charge full price once you reach age 27. So I guess young is under 27 years old
It depends on the perspective of the person making the call.
To a 10 year old a 30 year old is old.
To an 80 year old a 40 year old is still a kid.
When you start thinking you’re old
As the adage goes, you’re as old as you feel (as long as you stay healthy). I’m in my 40s and feel younger than I did in my mid 20s. Less stress, better able to deal with life events, and much more laid back.
