Approximately 10 months ago I loaned a family member $4000 to pay traffic fines and get their license reinstated, which is required for his new employment. The verbal agreement was that he would start repaying this loan at beginning the first of the year by splitting the commissions he received outside of the pay check. We are now 7 months into the new year and I have not received the first payment on the debt. Each time it is brought up all I hear is excuses or an attempt to renegotiate the payments.
If I have in my possession, some of this individual’s personal items, can I legally sell these items and apply what is received against his debt?
