Back hair, do you shave it or not

r/

For you guys with back hair, do you shave it? If so, how do you do it? I am a hairy guy and have been thinking about do it before the summer. I see a lot of different razors do it, anyone have any recommendations?

I get my back professionally waxed, it’s a tiny bit painful, but worth it. I have a hairy chest, but I really dislike my hairy back.

My wife does mine with an electric razor with no guard on it
Older I get, faster and more hair grows

Sounds like way too much effort for something I will probably never see.

I don’t have a ton of back hair, but I’m getting more and more on my shoulders. My wife keeps a razor in the shower so I’ll just give them a quick zip every few months or so. Maybe more often in the summer when I’ll have my shirt off.

Yes, I do once every 2 weeks in summer. And once a month in winter.

    I use this; https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DFMQYTY5

As for chest, I use an electric razor at 5mm and I go against grain. Same frequency as above.

I tried professional waxing once, against my better judgement and it was painful af and started bleeding all over.( remember the scene from 40 year old virgin? Ya that, but minus the screams as I didn’t want to sound like a child. I actually did tear up)

There’s a stick you can get with razors on the end… Which I realise is a shitty description but it is what it is. Anyway I use one of those

I have like 10 individual black ass hairs and drives me insane. My wife plucks them for me

I’m pretty hairy and I did six sessions of laser hair removal. It thinned it out, but I still have quite a bit. I waxed once and it fucked up my back for weeks. Had to get an antibiotic ointment that I had to use daily. I’ve used nair and it works pretty well. My wife has run the trimmers over my back but she hates doing it. I’d do more laser removal but I can’t justify the cost right now. Going to nair again this weekend.

Yes. I just use a razor, and my wife gets what I cannot reach.

No it’s not a big deal

You can go for a body waxing

My girl uses a std electric hair trimmer on my back about once a month.

    Personally I don’t use razors.

I tried waxing once before we took a cruise…..never again, my back broke out. It looked like I had pimples or was on steroids, without the muscles 😳

I spent a few thousand and had 90% of it lasered off. Then promptly got a girlfriend that likes body hair and wishes I still had it.

I dont shave any body hair at all.

Waxing is the superior option for me, and it’s not that expensive for how long the results last. I get my back and ass crack waxed every few months. Its not for looks, but for how good it feels. Back hair especially is annoying and makes me feel itchy, gathers more sweat, and is just generally annoying.

Back blade. It’s a miracle. You can get it on amazon cheap.

Yep, I was bullied about it as a kid in gym class and also have overheard and read many times how much women find back hair gross. It’s always a punch line in movies and you never ever see any guy with lots of body hair portrayed in a positive light. As someone whose always been very hairy it’s sucked.

Fortunately my wife doesn’t really care one way or the other (and thankfully loves my hairy chest) but I always keep my back shaved if I know I’ll be swimming because I feel incredibly self conscious about it. I’m generally a pretty confident person but it’s by far my biggest insecurity from those early experiences.

I did try waxing once but my skin reality didn’t like it and it looked like I had measles for like two weeks. So I use the Bakblade which works well enough.

I have it on my shoulders now. It’s odd as my body hair has always been “patchy”. I’m 43, who knows where it’s going

My wife does it for me with an electric razor. Every 3’ish weeks. Does my head as well.

    Get laser hair removal.

It’s expensive but men spend so very little money on aesthetics compared to women.

Otherwise nair if you have a lot of hair and your skin can take it.

I have my wife trim my back down every few weeks with an electric shaver. Some times I have her get the shoulders when we get in the shower with the razor. Clean cut. Less irritating. I can always tell because of the itchy feeling I get
I also from my elbows to shoulder. Always had patchy hair there. Looks better

I waxed it once. My back broke out and it was a terrible experience. Pain for weeks. Stopped thinking about how it for a few years after and then tried Nair. Works well, smooth, lasts for weeks, but the Nair was pretty harsh.

After some googling tried Aloe Vera Veet. Works the same as Nair, but smells better & is nowhere near as harsh. I probably do it 4x/year. Definitely a few times in the summer.

    I have my wife shave it 2 – 3 times a year.

Electric. Shit’s gonna grow back anyways. No need to be perfect.

  25. revstan Avatar

I have shaved it several times. I can usually get most of it by myself and have had my wife help. Honestly, she doesnt mind it and its more effort than its worth so I just live with it. Mine isnt extreme or anything, I just dont really like it much.

I got hammered one time and had some friends wax it, my back looked like I had chicken pox it broke out so bad. Never again. I hate back hair but I just deal with it, my wife doesn’t mind either so that helps

Just with the electric trimmer before a beach or pool day

  28. Averen Avatar

Summer time I’ll have my wife give it a quick shave with my trimmer every week or two (we live at the beach and go 1-4 times per month)

  29. hmc13 Avatar

I’ve done shaving with regular razors, and did laser hair removal for a couple years. I almost always missed patches with the razors, and preferred the pain once a summer of laser, but it isn’t the cheapest option.

Then I married a woman who likes my body hair, and stopped shaving it. 10/10 for convenience.

  30. el_cid_viscoso Avatar

I’ve only got a few stray strands and tufts of back hair. I’m really flexible and confident with a straight razor, so I just run the blade over my back a few times and call it a night

  31. Firm_Accountant2219 Avatar

Nope. I’m hairy front and back. I neaten up my chest hair some so my wife and I can snuggle without it getting up her nose. Shaved off the back hair once 30 years ago because I was self-conscious. When it grew back I said fuck it, this is how I am. It’s worked for me ever since.

Wax is the way to go!

  33. gatorhinder Avatar

I can’t see it, so it doesn’t exist

  34. AshenCursedOne Avatar

I have been blessed with almost no back hair, only some individual hairs here or there around the shoulders, usually I can reach to pluck them myself, or ask a family member to do it.

  35. Supersix4 Avatar

Ever since I was about 18 I’ve shaved it usually once a month. Never had any complaints about it and most partners I had shaved it for me on occasion. I opted to get laser hair removal on it last year and had about 9 sessions. It’s virtually gone now. I am pale with very dark hair and it was pretty thick if left unkempt.
