Being judgmental is not wrong as people say it is.

r/

Forming a judgement based on what we see and our experience is a natural human process which helps us to form an opinion and then later a decision. Our judgements do have cultural and social biases it’s true but pushing people not to judge things is a move to push them to be humans incapable of forming decisions which leads to moral decay of society. Instead of having hard criticism on judgements of people maybe we should tell them it’s okay to have judgements but it may not be true always

    so what you’re saying is…

you don’t appreciate being judged for judging?

As long as the result of such judgement is deserved otherwise its just stereotyping

Not all judgements are equal, and not all judgements are acted upon appropriately.

    Nah I agree.

I worked a sales job and the first thing they taught us is humans are judgemental by nature to ensure their survival. It is what it is

I agree, but I doubt many do.

with out being judgmental of bad behavior we wouldn’t have a society worth living in. Its why we no longer live in a might makes right society.

Everyone is judgemental. Some people more so, others less so.

It’s what you do with that judgement and if you’re willing to change it when presented with new information.

Rigid judgments can really screw things up

Law enforcement racial profiling is a stark example. It’s led to far too many innocent folks being wrongfully detained or even killed. We gotta base our opinions on facts and experience, not biases and stereotypes

The people that say you shouldn’t judge people absolutely do it themselves, everyone does it.

It’s only wrong if you have bad judgement. I can’t count the amount of times I judged somebody correctly and saves myself a headache

It’s fine to have judgements but maybe don’t act off them too much and don’t let them affect your opinion of anyone until you check the facts.

100% every single person here judges every other single person here, but the thing is someone could look at someone and judge they are a nice person with a loving personality, other could look and see a broke person who doesn’t have a good job, perspective is everything in life

Everyone is judgmental to some degree. Just try not to be a dick about it

Judgement is sort of an important social feature of imagine. Negative social pressure is a big part of how we grow to be able to live next to one another. Not wanting to do something that is known to negatively impact lives because of negative social interpretation that generally is a positive for society. But people get out in circumstances where they don’t have a lot of control and ended up in the situation where people are unfairly judging them. Then people want to be empathetic towards those few. Then we are pressured to give everyone “the benefit of the doubt” because even though we are pattern seeking creatures that use patterns for accurate predictions we might hurt a few feelings.

As long as being judgmental is being founded in a healthy, reasonable way where it isnt infringing or harming others, absolutely.

  16. Down-Right-Mystical Avatar

Everyone does it, even if they don’t admit to it.

It becomes a problem when people form their judgements based on stereotypes, things they’ve read in the press or on social media, etc and then won’t admit they were wrong and back down even when given proof otherwise.

  17. hello_im_al Avatar

Depends, if someone says some gross, weird, or ignorant crap, I’m gonna judge the hell out of them for it. If it’s for something trivial, I don’t bother to utter one word

  18. Curious-Kumquat8793 Avatar

It is when it becomes baseless swine behavior like stalking though.

I hate everyone who makes judgements /s

Judgement on merit is not the same as judgment on preference. We positively judge certain plants/food/people to be toxic and so we avoid them to survive. We negatively judge people based off of looks, weight, race, religion, etc. It requires us to find a healthy balance and most people dont want to put the work in so they’re just pricks who judge everything as bad.
