Being Smart and Emotionally Intelligent Doesn’t Equal Genius

r/

Having both a high IQ and high EQ doesn’t automatically make you a genius. If anything, it puts you one step closer to Machiavellian behavior. Think about it, you’ve got the brains to plan and strategize, and the emotional awareness to read people like a book. That combo can either be powerful or dangerous, depending on who’s in control of it. If you’ve got empathy, you’ll probably use those skills to lead, connect, or create. But without a solid moral compass? You’re basically equipped to manipulate people without them even noticing. It’s not the intelligence or the emotional skill that’s the issue. It’s the intent behind it.

Having a high EQ implies high empathy. A Machiavellian person is not empathetic at all. Contradiction.

Even if I do concede that point just for argument’s sake, why would that not make them a genius? Are geniuses precluded from also being bad people, or Machiavellian as you put it?
