The art style is ugly intentionally to avoid CP. The jokes are (for the most part) funny, And frankly I find many of the themes of adolescence relatable.

For it being a coming of age cartoon for adults, it does seem to get hated on. I tend to agree with you, they do a good enough job keeping it PG enough to still be funny and relatable.
It still shows little animated pubes with eyes and personality, I think it’s probably best not to draw a 12 year old’s short and curlies under any circumstance 😂
Maybe the first season and part way through the second, but after that it became a cesspool of cringe non stop. I had to stop watching
