I am a young man living in Egypt, while my father lives in the United States and holds American citizenship. He has built a life for himself there and owns several businesses, most notably a taxi business and real estate investments. Despite his financial success and vast wealth, the financial assistance he provides us does not exceed $200 per month. This amount is very small and is not enough to cover basic living expenses in light of the difficult economic conditions and rising prices the country is experiencing.
When I tried to discuss this issue with him and explained that this amount was insufficient, I received no positive response from him. On the contrary, his reaction was extremely negative; he responded to my request with insults, curses, and verbal abuse, which increased the tension between us. I felt frustrated and wronged because he was ignoring his responsibility towards his family.
After exhausting all attempts at dialogue with him, I found no alternative but to resort to the Egyptian judiciary to seek a solution that would guarantee my rights. I filed an official complaint with the competent court, but unfortunately, no tangible progress was made in the case. The judicial system has been unable (or has yet to) take effective action against him, especially since he resides abroad.
The difficult paradox here is that all of his assets and investments are in the United States, not Egypt. He owns real estate and commercial projects in Egypt, but I cannot access any of these resources without a court order that will do me justice and require him to pay appropriate alimony.
I am now at a loss and need your advice. What precise legal steps should I take? Are there legal mechanisms through which his assets can be traced and confiscated here in Egypt until he is compelled to respond? Should I turn to a different judicial authority or seek the assistance of a lawyer specializing in international disputes? Any assistance or guidance from you would be very helpful during these difficult times
