I feel like when people are listing truly great actors, he never makes the list. You hear about Leo, Daniel Day-Lewis, Paul Giamati, Denzel (several of whom are also good looking). But because Pitt was sold as the handsome movie star early on I think he ended up branded that way when he just might be the best actor of his generation. He finally got his flowers in 2020, but he should have several Oscar’s.
One measure of a great actor to me is are they able to convincingly play a variety of roles. Think about Pitt. 12 Monkeys. 7. Snatch for goodness sake. A River Runs Through It. Oceans 11. Moneyball. Fight Club. Dozens more.
The dude has been in more iconic movies than just about anyone. His acting is incredible in each one – he steals the show. And all his characters are radically different. I have no idea how he plays all those different roles so coving and how someone so famous disappears in the roles. Honestly when I’m watching Denzel or Tom Cruise, I think “Denzel and Tom are doing a great job.” When I’m watching Pitt I just think “that fast-talking Gypsy boxer is hilarious.”
He should have 5+ Oscar’s. He might be the best male actor alive. If he was 50% uglier he’d get the credit he deserves.

Agree, downvoted
Agree he’s top tier. Not the greatest alive though. That may actually be Leo.
Lol absolutely not. No.
I don’t think he’s a very good actor.
He is a character actor with a leading man’s face.
Hmmm
The Last Samurai.
That is all.
Brad Pitt is an incredible actor but I think you’re right. His good looks somewhat overshadow his talent. I saw Legends Of The Fall for the first time recently and he was so good in it.
he is painfully bad
He’s a great actor but he’s not even close to Daniel Day-Lewis, let’s be honest
Wow, what a dogshit take. Upvote.
It is fun to imagine what sort of career Brad Pitt would have if he looked like, say, Philip Seymour Hoffman.
I think it’s totally plausible he would have more Oscars in that case. He’d be predisposed to different roles in different sorts of films. He does have acting chops.
You stand there with your facehole flapping like Gary Oldman don’t exist
Found Brad Pitts burner account
Yeah, the Marilyn Monroe syndrome
This is not unpopular at all. Maybe not THE greatest actor alive, but he is certainly up there. And yes, I also believ that his looks harm his public perception as an actor.
His range is phenomal. And he is really really good. But greatest actor. I don’t think he’s ever given one of era defining scene’s like other actors have. Maybe he’s not had the chance to, in which case he might be but we can’t tell. But until he does something truly AAA+ tier like Marlin Brando or Anthony Hopkins. I’m not saying they’re the greatest specifically but you need to have hit that height that they did in Godfather or Silence of the lambs. Hell, Anthony is barely even in Silence of the lambs and everybody remembers it for him.
Legends of the Fall
He’s ok. I see him and think: sure
For a movie star, Pitt is a very good actor.
I hate how he looks and I don’t think he’s a good actor, so I’m not sure what that says about your hypothesis.
He is not a good actor. Watch the episode of Friends he’s in. It’s an embarrassing performance.
