It’s not necessary the smell (which maybe subjective) but it’s the fact that burps is air coming out of your stomach from food that’s still digesting and the result is a stench that smells familiar the the food you just ate but that’s gone bad. Similar to looking at a humanoid that is so close to the real thing but so very fake, just grosses me out. Also, the fact of something unpleasant is coming out of your mouth rubs me the wrong way than the other end which we normalize is more dirty.
Anyone feel the same sometimes?

At this place I used to work this girl burped really, really loud one day as I was walking through the office, I said to her jokingly “that will find you a good man someday”. She kissed me at my going away party and we’ve been married for 25 years.
I hook a tube from my bum hole directly to my mouth and I am my own CPAP machine at night time. I agree burps are horrible. There’s nothing like breathing in your own burnt butter.
i completely agree. the noise of a burp also annoys me more. atleast farts are funny

I dislike both. Burps resemble sounds of vomiting to me, and the sounds of vomiting make me want to vomit.
Farts are ass wind. Oftentimes, they have to climb over a turd to get out….

Ugh, I get why people think burps stink more than farts… there’s this awful tang to belches that tastes like stale beer and bad breath. Kinda like when you hold it in too long and your stomach just decides to unleash hell
I mean, sure, farts can reek too, especially after spicy curries, but at least they’re just a pungent cloud. Burps, though? Those are like a mini-vomit down your throat that leaves this lingering ick factor… so yeah, I’m with OP on this one
