California Rule for Suing Therapists and Psychiatrists

r/

Location: California

I wanted to sue my formal therapist and Psychiatrist over their abuse.

I feared that all my personal details, which were very embarrassing, would be made public.

Is my assumption true?

Anyone know what the logistics of legal action against bad actors in the therapy space is?

In general, I am not sure the right level of accountability is being held here for this industry.

What does “abuse” mean in this context?

    >I feared that all my personal details, which were very embarrassing, would be made public.

The extent of that depends on exactly what your allegations are.

You need to ask a more specific question. I don’t know what this means.

Therapy and psychiatry involve art as well as science. It’s therefore far more difficult to define what constitutes malpractice and how to assess harm, outside of a straightforward claim like sexual abuse.
