Location: Lexington Kentucky
I have been in my rental for twelve years and it has changed hands four times
The latest landlords have only been here a few months.
I’m month to month and I posted online that I was missing my mom and had been thinking about moving back to my hometown. It’s several states away.
Someone commented they knew a place available in two months and I commented I would check it out.
Apparently my landlord was snooping on my online profile because 2 hours later I get a crazy notice from them.
It seems to be geared towards making a move out as insanely difficult as possible. They said I can no longer use our driveway and must park at the end of the hill. (So if I move I now I have to carry everything downhill)
They also said I’m not allowed to sell any of my property especially all furniture. The reasoning would be that I would be using my house as a business and it’s not zoned as a business.
I would need to sell my furniture to be able to move several states I can’t bring them with me. I’m wondering if they are hoping to keep my furniture if they make it impossible to sell it?
They put in the notice in the event that I move I am not to remove the heater “they provided.,” I bought my heater at Lowe’s for $90. It’s not theirs. So I guess they are blatantly trying to steal that
Can they prevent me from selling my furniture to downsize. On marketplace or craigslist. They said If they see me listing any items online they will impose a $100 fee per listing per day that it’s up and 7 day notice to vacate. This seems insane.
I understand they don’t want me to move but this is not the way to do it. I have been nothing but courteous to them and we always got along until this crazy sudden notice after my Facebook post about moving.

That is totally insane. You need to get the police involved.
They’re bound to the terms of your lease agreement. Whatever lease says about things like parking they’re bound to.
Police won’t be interested because it’s a civil matter.
Contact renters rights org in your area- they’ll have access to information meant to protect YOU not the LL and can give referrals to local real estate attorneys.
Also block them on socials they aren’t your friends they shouldn’t be able to see your personal information/goings on.
