My grandmother is elderly and will likely leave me her house when she passes, but that could be years from now. My partner and I are discussing a prenup and I want to make sure any future inheritance stays separate property. Is it possible to include assets you don’t currently own in a prenup? What’s the best way to word this so it’s enforceable? I’m also wondering if this covers things like if my grandmother decides to gift me the house before she passes or if there are other family assets that might come my way down the line. Should I try to be specific about the house or just use broader language about “future inheritances and gifts from family”? My fiancĂ© is totally supportive of this cuz we just want to make sure we do it right legally. Any advice on this?
